1. Are the two short fuel hoses running from the T fitting under the tank to the left and right  "T" fittings on the fuel rails preformed?? Seems that the local dealers dont have them and I hate to have to wait another 7 days for two short fuel hoses from HLD. At $2.50 ea.these have to be 2 of the least expensive items on this bike.  cooldude Thats all thats holding me up to see if shes gonna run or puke her guts out....maybe both! 2funny

2. There is a yellowish, semi clear drain tube that looks like the drool tube on the bike. It may have been clear at one time, like tygon tubing. Is that an OEM hose or something the dealer just stuck in there the last time this carb job was done? Not that they'd go out of their way to do anything like that, but it looks out of place.

3. In the middle rear of the engine there is a hard line (steel) with a rubber cap on one end and the other end goes to a banjo fitting on the crankcase toward the bottom of the engine. I didnt see it in the book. What is it's purpose? Engine pre-oiler maybe??

Inquiring minds want to know
Thanks gents

The banjo thinggy is the  bleeder for the clutch

I do not believe any of the fuel lines are pre formed.  I wouldnt wait on HDL, just go to an Auto parts place and buy the same diameter fuel line and cut to fit

If that clearish hose has a plastic cap and its down by the right driver foot peg...sounds OEM to me, yes its the drool tube, drain it everytime you change the oil or after riding in bad rain

Ohhhhhhhhhh, so that where the clutch is bled...cool! Easy to get too....
I wondered about the fuel lines because they seem to have a curved set to them. Didnt know if autp parts hose would bend much without kinking.
Thanks for the info

I thought thats what it was but wasnt sure if was OEM. I pulled the plug out of it and got probably 1/2 cup of yellowish "drool" spotted with a few droplets of oil on my cave floor. Smelled pretty bad too.

Thanks for the info

The main fuel line, when bought new, will come with a piece of plastic that gives it a slight bend. I don't know about the others.

Nitro...yes, there is a plastic sleeve on the long hose before it goes into the main T fitting. Kinda looks like a chafe sleeve. Thats all there was on the assembly... 3 hoses, (2 short and 1 long hose) a plastic T fitting and that sleeve. The short hoses are gray with a red stripe on them. They are pretty hard and the ends look kinda "chipped". I figured the hoses should be replaced but the T is in fine shape.

Be careful when you are putting those two hoses on the "T's" if you twist the "T's" while installing the rubber hose you are taking a risk at unseating the O-rings on the end of the T's which will then cause a fuel leak.

I have seen this three times on three different valks.  The O-rings can be replaced but you have to split the carbs to get the "T" out.  So my advise is to just be very careful not to turn the "T's".

I went to see if I had a picture of this but I don't.  I will soon when I do another set of carbs soon and can show you next time.

Stude31. I am in the process of finishing up the carb rebuild...I split the whole shbang, boiled out each carb, installed new jets and O rings through out. Now I need the fuel hoses. I will exercise caution when I install them on the T's. Thanks for the advice. Dont wanna do this again due to carelessness... I can hardly wait to see if I was successful! cooldude
