If it wakes someone up and makes them think about not drinking and driving then it is worth it.

WOW, that was really quite dramatic. I'd love to see that aired here, anything that would help--

I don't think that it will help. People drink to get rid of their inhibitions.  When they reach the "I don't give a crap' level, they will either drive (or ride) or not.

If their inhibitions are gone, they will probably continue to  drive until they have a personal  tragedy.
I've heard more than one say a few drinks makes them a better driver.

Social drinking is OK in my book until the drinking involves driving or riding.

stastically I've been on the road with impaired drivers. a certain number of cars on the road at 1:00 AM Saturday morning are going to be piloted by someone under the infuence.

I've seen'um weave from fog line to centerline back and forth.  I give them a wide berth.

Many years ago I was driving back from dropping off a friend in the country. I was driving west on highway 37 towards Ft Wayne about 3am when I came upon a car weaving side to side. Could not stay in his lane. This was before cel phones were common. So we fallowed this guy for miles hoping he would not hit anyone. Luckly nobody was on the road at this time. Before he got into town he drove off in a ditch. I pulled over as well as the car behind me. The guy behind me had been trying to get someone on his CB channel 9 but could not. Me and my buddy stayed at the scene while the second car went to call a cop. The drunk stumbled out of his car and onto the road. Said something like "Ft Wayne has not been good to me". (he was from Ohio). When the cops got there they gave him a test and he failed big time. The cop asked me and my buddy if we would testify if called. I said hell yea. He must have plead guilty because I never got called.

I think that someone that gets drunk, gets in a car and kills someone else should be charged with murder. There is absolutely NO reason the drink and drive. Call a cab,get a designated driver. Something. That is my opinion..........

I drove an ambulance as a volunteer Fireman/E M S. I've seen the horror first hand up close and personal. 0230 or 1430 makes no difference. Some folks lives are changed FOREVER because of lack of a little thought. And usually the sorry worthless P O S(can be male or female)that caused the death and destruction gets off with wounds(physical)that can be treated at the scene. You want to drink and drive and you get caught as a first time offender-$50000.00 fine 5 years no drive. 2nd offense $125000.00 fine and 20 years and NO parole. You kill someone when your driving drunk life without the possibility of parole. Harsh-absofrikkinlutely. Bout time all the states put some real teeth in the drunk driving laws. cooldude RIDE SAFE AND SOBER.

Alcohol, drugs, cell phones, eating, and putting on make-up are all distratctions that have no place on the road - MC,4-wheeler, or 18 wheeler.  Everyone always thinks that they can handle it and that tragic accidents happen to someone else.  That "Just Aint So"...Jim

we kill 50K a year in this country in traffic accidents and as things go" it is not a big deal"...never understood any of it.  Now if you shoot someone w/ a gun the world stops turning, but driving and killing, not so much...

fatal accidents had been trending down for a years, hovering around 40,000. don't know where we are today.

I won't so much as drink a beer and get behind the wheel, not worth the hassle.

Nope.  But we should somehow make it so you can't drive if you've been drinking.  People are stupid and don't exercise very good judgment when inebriated and usually don't know when they've had too much.  If they're stupid enough to get behind the wheel after drinking thereby endangering everyone else they encounter, then there needs to be some kind of control to stop them.

Apparently your family has never felt the horrible and decimating tragedy of some damn drunk killing your loved ones.  I have NO tolerance.   Angry
