Decided to continue West, towards Portland then South down the 101 and 1.  Would love any suggestions.  As of now, it looks as if Hwy 14 South of Richland, WA seems like a nice road.  Best ways from there?  Then, best way to get to PCH?

Thanks......

I will be taking 101 from the west of portland to 107 to 12 to 8 and pick up the slab at Olympia

Let us know what the roads are like

I have a cousin with a small place off 101   cannon beach will be there the 28th of june

Road from Portland to the 101 looks kinda slow but scenic

Hope you have clear weather on the 101, the road sucks in the fog you cant see the turns and there are many, at least thats how it was further south near Gualala and down to Muir Woods on the coast highway
called highway 1 down in calif
PLEASE IF YOU havent yet ride into Muir Woods the road will give you seizures and the trees are way cool

Gonna be cloudy and rainy on the coast at any time, you never know. Cross over the river at Cascade Locks if you want to check Multnomah Falls. Been there many times and it's  photo op ready! cooldude
If you're wanting to see all the coastline you can, You can take 84 thru Portland to 26 and head to Tillamook on 6. Nice scenery all the way. Did I say wet? South on 101 will show you amazing,"Gortons Fishermans" style coastlines. wet Hwy 1 can be accessed out of Leggett, Ca. More of the prettiest riding I've ever seen.wet Mendocino is a cool town, Bodega Bay will shoot you inland for a while and if you really want to see a,"you can't get there from here" village, hit Bolinas, W. of Mt Tam, N. of San Francisco. Riding thru S.F. will possibly annoy you but S. thru Santa Cruz on 1 thru Big Sur is the best!! Whew! I'm tired!
Don't know how far S. you want to go but man, Ca. has some of the best sights in the U.S.A.

Wow, awesome info guys!! Thanks....

As to when I pass through Eureka??  Hell, I"ve no idea yet!!  I like to do about 250 miles a day, so I can enjoy the ride and take as many photos as possible.

I think I will leave Wednesday from Spokane, and end up a bit west of Walla Walla.  It looks like 14 will be the best way to Portland Area.....Looking at the map, it seems there are about 300 parks along the Oregon Coast and California Coast so I should have plenty of camping opportunities.

I think the farthest South with be the Los Osos/Cambria area.....Is that a good place to start back East?

Going to study the maps for a few hours....Looks like this trip is going to be 7000 miles plus!! Maybe more as I've already accumulated 3995 miles!!

Nope, not heading down to LA......Been there, and have done that portion of 66 several times.

Thinking I will make it passed Montery/Carmel then start heading East....perhaps up through Tahoe....

As Michael K (Az.) says, take Hwy 14 on the Washington side to just west of Stevenson, Wa and cross over to Cascade Locks, Or. at the Bridge of the Gods.  Then take I-84 west approximately 8 miles and take old scenic Hwy 30.  It is marked as the waterfall area at that exit.  There are the highest concentration of waterfalls in the US along Hwy 30 and some excellent riding.

Crossing over at 205 is too far west to catch the waterfalls on the Oregon side without back tracking.  The Bridge of the Gods is the last crossing before 205.  It is located about 2 miles west of Stevenson, Wa. There is no hwy number at the Bridge of the Gods as it is just a bridge crossing there and no road continuation on either side of the river. Since retiring I have been spending the summer months in Stevenson, Wa. I also used to be on the Sheriff's here in the 70's and very familiar with the area.

If you have further questions on the area or would like to meet up when you come through you are welcome to give me a call.  My number is nine one three (area code) 963-6210.  My phone service is spotty here so keep trying.

Well right now I would need the skis on the Valk.  This weather really sucks!!

Looks like I'm going to miss Seattle, as well as Portland.  Rain sticking around until Saturday.  I think I will be heading South today towards Bend, then over to the coast.  Anything good in the middle of Oregon??

heading to the coast going over highway 58?  you might want to see how snowbound crater lake is.

I took the missus up there for our anniversary one year the 22 of june, the roads were clear but still deep snow everywhere else.

while in Bend, there is good grub and beer to be had downtown.
higher end food at the pine tavern

http://www.pinetavern.com/

try the deschutes brewery

http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/locations/bend

there is now a McMenamins pub at the old St Francis school

http://www.mcmenamins.com/421-old-st-francis-school-home

there is a tour to the top of lava butte, also in the summer to the top of Mt Batchelor

the high desert museum, or the museum in reid  school downtown.
http://www.highdesertmuseum.org/
http://www.deschuteshistory.org/the+museum/reidschool/default.aspx

if you end up over in Sisters OR, lots of touristy stuff there. good food too.

I used to live in Bend, there's a few things to do Roll Eyes  while down town check out mirror pond and drake park.

mirror pond is actually the deschutes river where it slows down

thanks for the tips... No way am I leaving today.  Still 44 in Spokane, and raining.  Perhaps Friday.  That will make one week here.  Guess it was in the cards for a nice long rest.  Yet I'm getting very restless due to all the rest.

After lots of discussions with Thespian, looks like I will be heading South from Spokane to Baker City, via Grangeville.  The West to the Newport area.  Then South to San Fran..

Are you going to take 26 to 20 W. to Newport? If so, there's a bunch of nice twisties and sweepers as you'll be popping over a couple of hills before you get to the Wavy Waste!

Yep, 26 and 20.  That is the plan.  At least for now.  But as I've had about 27 different plans in the last few days, I'll be really surprised if that actually happens!!
