How does the power draw compare to the standard bulb in our Valks?  Is it more or less....curious minds, etc., etc.???

I do believe it is less.  When Thunder Beach Autumn happens I'm going over there.  Custom Dynamics sells them and I thought I'd go try it out first to make sure it fits.

Make sure it includes both a high and low beam.

Most HID kits do not.

Rick, this is on a bike I'm fixing for a friend, he installed it himself but only has low beam as I recall. His headlight socket is about fried and I was wondering if that was the cause. Apparently not, but I plan to replace it for him with a high temp/current unit. I'm working on the add-on wiring mess that was on the bike when he bought it about a month ago. As I stated on another post...."a bowl of spaghetti is more organized." When it started popping the 5 amp accessory fuse, I took a look and found it had no less than four different circuits running off it along with his driving lights. It's a mess, but fixable.

John;  The HID draws less power 35 watts not 55 about a 1/3rd and is 1/3rd brighter. It is a bright
white compared to to the stock bulb which looks yellow next to the HID. I really like mine as it stands
out so much more and yes you do need one that is hi and low (bi-xeion?). You do need to get the whole kit(ballast, relay, ect). Had to extend most of the small wires as alot of the big stuff has to go into the head light but it can be done. If you need help let me know. I'm in St pete and and always
looking for a ride. If it is an I/S no problem.

The chinese have made on that uses a magnet to flip the bulb up so that it repoints it into the "hi" position.

Have a buddy that put one on his bike... I will NEVER ride in front of him at night again!!!

IMHO...HID is the only way to go...I have put it in all my vehicles and as a rule only replace the low beam as the high beam to me is just a waste...I have found I can not out run the low beam!!!  Once you change over to HID you will never go back...and for those who are alittle older the first HID kit I bought had printed on the box " for people over the age of 50 "  it is a amazing difference!!! wel worth the $$$

I had the 55 watt 8000K kit from DDM Tuning in my ZRX and I loved it.  I'll be putting the same light in the new Valk also.  The 55 watt washes the color some, so the 8000k was very bright white with a small hint of blue, but mostly super white.  I rarely ever had to use the high beam on it.  It was the Hi/Lo HID in one bulb with the magnet.  I put the balast under the tank at the neck, but not sure if it will reach on the Valkyrie.

I once spoke to a Tourer owner, fella said that he tried a HID kit,
believe he said he 'melted' his interior of his bucket. I guess that
means that the reflective interior was ruined by the heat.

So is heat going to continue to be a problem for the bucket, or is
this new(er) HID product from DDM producing less waste heat?

I put a kit from Goldwing HIDs on my son's 1500 Wing and we're very pleased with how bright it is and how little power it draws. I don't know if they make a single one for the standard/tourer, but the 1500 Wing setup is the same for the Interstate. Talk to Tim - he's quite knowledgeable. By the way, he'll be a vendor at Wing Ding in Ft. Wayne in early July.

Not sure about the heat, I had a metal bucket on the ZRX.

That's nice to know about it all fitting inside of the bucket. I'll have to give it a shot. Otherwise, I'm sure I can come up with something.
