It advertised "Get a faster browser" by Google and I downloaded it and it was a lot faster than my "normal" Google search engine and did get infected but fixed it. It has "Babylon Search" in the top right hand corner.... maybe that was a clue to stay away!  Cheesy

Has anyone tried it?

I have had it for years and update regularly.  Have never seen "Babylon" search.  I use Google.  I have take IE off my personal computers.  Never had any trouble.

Er..... Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome? If Google was advertising it, it'd prolly be Google Chrome, if it was Mozilla's browser, it'd be Firefox, not Foxfire...  Wink

But either is far and away superior to IE!

But yes, I've been using Firefox since the early betas in around 2003 or so... I've been tempted to switch to Chrome lately, but I have numerous add-ons in Firefox that I can't live without anymore...

Thanks for that Jack. On my Foxfire search page, it has a click on ad under the searchbox advertising "Make the web page faster by Google" and has a 'download free'. It IS lightning fast but I got infected.

I know it's crazy but Google was advertising a download on Foxfire!   Shocked

Mozilla Firefox is a great browser.  Sounds like you may have a virus or other malware in addition to Firefox.  Used to be one of the advantages of Firefox was that all the viruses were aimed at IE.  Maybe that is changing.

Used Firefox for a while but now use Google Chrome.  It is faster than Firefox and years faster than IE.

Other browsers tried and abandoned due to poor performance - Safari, Opera.

I've been running Firefox for several years now. At first it was great, but in the last year it's been slowing down. Like Serk, I run several Add-ons that I'm loath to do without, including flash blocker.
But by Version 11.0 (on Lion) it just dragged and hogged RAM to the point that I was finally willing to jump back to Chrome. Chrome does now support extensions, though there doesn't yet seem to be very many. I also experience a few display issues. Mainly spacing around graphics, and rules that should not display. (I'm guessing it has something to do with the way it interprets style sheets.)
I'm staying with Chrome as my primary browser for now, but I still have FireFox and Safari available. I'll jump to a new one like a flea to a fat dog if things change.

+1 I stopped doing wed development somewhere around the HTML days. We've got a full-time web developer now and rendering across multiple platforms is the bane of his existence.

If you have windows 7 64 then you can get Waterfox its Firefox for 64 bit systems and its faster than regular Firefox. I really like it you will have to download 64 versions of addons but it will work with 32 bit addons also. I have used Firefox for quite a few years and still use it in work on my XP machines.

+1 for me. Really love Google Chrome. And Google has some of the best Spam filters around anywhere. Even switched our company email to a Google Corporate account. Works great! Whenever I can get away from anything "Microsoft" I'm happy to do so! cooldude

I used Firefox for years but ended up switching to Chrome for one reason.
When you have multiple tabs open and one of them has a problem that crashes things, Firefox crashes.
With Chrome, each tab opens in its own process and uses its own memory, so a problem is contained and doesn't affect the other tabs.

Get rid of that Babylon tool bar it is a real PITA and full of cr*p. If you do a proper Google search you will find several threads about getting rid of it. A few hoops to jump through to get it off your system but well worth the effort. I have had to do it several times for friends and neighbours.
