*UPDATE*  As already reported....all the other crud turned out to be not scary.......Dr cleared me to ride again if Im careful so I bought a new bike today.  Got one just like Valkahuna..........straight up riding position (my Dr requied that), and shocks on the front forks and the seat post.  What am I going to do with 21 speeds but hey at least if I need to go up the side of a bulding there IS A GEAR FOR THAT!!!!!

Went for a little break in ride today and love it............soft and gushy ride compared to my old "hard tail" 10 speed

Jeff,

That's a nice looking bike. cooldude It does look a lot like my Specialized. As for the 21 speeds, you'll find that you will get used to them. I typically ride on the middle chain ring in front, and it let's me use all 7 gears in the rear cluster. I typically only use the large chain ring up front when I'm in the smallest or second smallest (6 or 7) in the rear. They prolly told you you cant't cross from one extreme to the other anyways.

Enjoy the ride. Your back will be glad you got an upright ride! cooldude

Chris...

The tailbone will/might be an issues from now on.... I know Firsthand! Something to do with a very tall train trestle and a lower than normal river...... and beer... and Jack...... oh to be young and dumb again....

That was 20 plus yeas ago... make sure they do what ever you have to do to let it heal straight if possible.... mine healed crooked and I have trouble sitting for long periods of time or short periods on certain chairs.... but then mine was a severe break... literally could not do much or  even walk for 2 weeks... couldn't sit down for a month or so.. even with a "donut"

I have to modify all my seats.... motorcycle, snowmobile, Lazy Boy, and car (when possible) to sit for any length of time...  Lets not even discuss plane flights... I bring a donut... but only works for a while...

On the Valk, I have a modified 99 standard seat that has barely any foam under my tail bone..... takes all the pressure off and I can ride for hours without much problems....

Just sayin',,, make sure you do what is recommended to make sure it heals right or riding (and other things) could become an issue.......

Get Better!

Brad

For one reason or another that I cannot explain......the doctors at our base hospital seem to be not that great at reading x-rays...anyways They said I broke my tail bone, but couldnt tell if it was a new or an old injury.  I had broken the tail bone years ago and did have all the associated problems sitting and as I remember going up stairs......anyway I keep telling them I think this time I injured the sacrum because the pain was from side to side and higher up than what you actually sit on (by just enough that I can sit) this injury hurt way more than a broken tail bone but It was different.  I can ride the new bicycle with very little discomfort, although I stay on the smoothest of roads...I can sit if I sit up straight, however, the slightest bad posture (slumping) brings on pain....a lot less today than a couple weeks ago but still there none the less.

I thank all of you for prayers and or well wishes and support, I am getting better and I am still going forward as if I really do have a compression fx at T-11 even though I question whether that is an old injury as well from my paratrooper days........they say there is no way to tell old or new.............all this modern technology and we cant tell something as basic as that....oh well, at least I will be better soon and back to riding the Valkyrie every day as I always have........I think shes getting mad at me, Ive only rode her twice in the last month

very nice looking bike, needs a water bottle holder and for me anyways, a bigger seat, or maybe a gel pad over the top of the seat for some more cushion.  Probably the last bike one would need.

Well Valkahuna.......As I try to make sense out of all these gears.....I tried what you do a few days and it worked, but I found that the chain wasnt straight enough for serious peddling when on the center (front) sprocket.  So I have been getting used ot the array of gears available in the rear and just leaving it permanently on the big one up front.  I find I use about 4 gears and I can really peddle hard and the chain is much more quiet because its straighter.

BTW...UR right, I am really diggin the upright riding position.  Took a little bit, at first it feels like you are sitting on top of a pole, but the brain adjusts, the back is very happy and thats what counts  cooldude
