Hello and sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find information following many searches.  I'm getting ready to replace my rear tire on a '99 Interstate and thought I should service the final drive.  I referred to ShopTalk and got info on the needed parts. However, cannot find the "Dust Seal" using the shop talk number,(Dust seal Part #91253-433-761).  Anyone have an updated accurate part number.  I even tried the local Honda shop and the parts guy could not locate one in the fiche.  Thanks for any help.

Unless the seal is damaged or you are replacing the bearing, there is no need to replace the seal as part of regular final drive service.  The service manual recommends replacing the o-rings and plastic shim, but I've never replaced the shim.  When I've replaced the o-rings the old ones looked perfect.

look on the rear wheel breakdown. it is the outer dust seal over the left bearing.

Gryphon Rider--Thanks for the input.  I was gonna acquire all the parts just in case. but think I'll limit myself to the O rings...again, just in case.

The confusion may be in the name.  Its a wheel bearing dust seal not a final drive dust seal.  Leave it alone until you need to change the wheel bearing under there  cooldude

Re: Final drive service...  I have only had my bike for a short time and am reading about some of the issues if this is not done. It has 24k miles, should I rush to do the final drive service or should I be ok until I need the next rear tire?

It's not polite to hijack a thread.

Why not simply start a new thread with your question.
