i don't do it, but i've seen people pull right up onto the sidewalk and park next to the door. i guess it's because it's concrete and not black top, their kick stands won't sink in. me, i'm never in there long enough for the kick stand to sink in so i'll park in a auto stall.

so you shoot painted banana's? that's odd.... walmart is good at SOME things, saving you money isn't one of 'em. case in point, check out the price of their cereal, the big boxes cost MORE per ounce then the smaller boxes, but yet EVERYONE thinks buying bigger saves you "packaging" money. WRONG!!! they're good at providing cheap quality products that break right after the waranty expieres so you have to buy a new one!! they're good at filling up our landfills with cheap chineese junk.

I go to 4 different Wal Marts around here and up to this point in time-no parking related problems. When i'm on 2 wheels i park in the striped area betwen the poles closest to the building. One of the stores i park around behind at the automotive center. Again-no problems. Most times when i come back out to leave the security people ask me what kind of motorcycle etc etc. R R get hold of the Manager-not the assistants-and see if you can find out what that stores policy is. That is if you don't want to remain pissed of. If you do want to remain pissed off than nobody can help you. Peace and RIDE SAFE.

Simple solution--Don't shop at Walmart. Walmart Sucks! I haven't been in almost a year. Between local stores, amazon, ebay, etc, I don't plan on setting foot in a walmart ever again. Do a little research on the impact that walmart has on local businesses, the music industry, etc. The (small) savings isn't worth it in the long run...

Usually the yellow stripped areas are designated "clear space" around HC Spaces, and are just as Jess said, designed to give more room for wheelchair access. I still stay you are parking in the wrong place, simply because you are at walmart in the first place.

The Wally World nearest us has a lot of HC parking. But the majority of th HC spaces are usually filled with expensive autos without HC plates or hang tags.(Lets not keep profits away from those that will spend their money)
As a matter of fact I almost got a ticket for parking in a HC space. My Valk has a disabled plate. The security guard claimed that there was no such thing as a HC M/C plate. When I asked the cop if he looked at my plate, he did not give me a ticket, but said that he would remember me!

the reason I do not park in front of wal mart is....... Have you seen the way some ( I said some not all) people dress that do business there? I do not park in any of the yellow striped areas because I have always thought they were for the ramps on HC vans. Old2soon, I never stay pi$$ed off at anything or anyone for more than a few minutes. Life is to good to hold a gruge and run around being angry all the time. I would park in the parking lot but I know if someone knocks my bike over they will not leave a note and I have invested way to much money and time into my bike so some dink dink can use it for target pratice. Most of the folks that go to walmart never put the shopping carts in the cart holder, they just let them roll around and I am not taking a chance on one of them hitting the bike. Bottom line is, I will just stay away from wal mart. I know my money will not be missed by wal mart but it makes me a feel good knowing that I am not going back there.

The striped area between and adjacent to the HC parking is most definitely part of the HC parking. As stated, it's for vans, etc., with drop down loaders. Park there in most areas of Florida and it gets expensive if caught. Or, in Vandalia. Illinois if my daughter happens along with her handicap van for her son. Some guy parked his m/c there just ahead of her one day, she got out and asked him to move his bike and he told her where to get off. Wrong move, the police chief lives across the street from her and it's a small town. She calls him at home(weekend at the time), he drove over and saw the bike still parked so called a tow truck. When it was loaded, he asked her where she would like it delivered. There's a state park about 20 miles away, closes at sundown, nice place for a m/c. Kid was ticketed for parking in a H/C space, towing, being in a state park after it closed, and the judge told him if it were legal he would have added $500 to the fines just for being stupid.
Don't guess he'll park there again.

I'm not quite to that level of avoidance, but I'm working on it. It doesn't help that the nearest store going in either direction from my house is a Walmart. Less than 3 miles north or south, 5 miles east or west! One good thing that has come from all the Walmarts everywhere, is the locally owned stores have concentrated really hard on giving personalized friendly service to their customers. I don't mind occasionally paying a little extra for the hospitality of the small stores.

Got to somewhat disagree with most of the posts about Walmart being bad. Hey, they employ a lot of people and jobs around here are pretty scarce. A job is better than no job and most of the Walmart staff are decent, at least around here. As far as parking, never been a problem but what makes the person special that wants to park his cycle in the auto section closer to the store vs. a regular car NOT being allowed to park there? Rules are rules even though you have gotten away with that parking section for a long time, doesn't make it right. I see similar people with handicap plates or handicap parking stickers in their rearview mirror park in the closer handicap stalls at stores and they are all alone, in younger, good physical condition able to walk just fine and yet they abuse the system. Sometimes if I am in the right mood, I ask the person what kind of handicap you have that makes you different than me being allowed to park in the handicap stall?

In Virginia Beach, handicap parking spaces have the access area next to the space outlined in blue lines so there is no question that the extra yardage is part of the handicap spot.
At the mall I used to frequent, the parking was slanted, leaving a half moon spot at the end closest to the entrance. This was outlined in yellow since it was not big enough to park a car. These were normally filled with bikes.
I used to take advantage of this until I realized that parking my bike way out in the lot where there were no vehicles increased my chances of not getting hit by some less than careful driver.

I can tell you that I appreciate everyone of my customers. I know it isn't always cheaper, or more convenient, but its better for the local economy, and yes you are appreciated at a small business.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the employees, its the overall impact that Walmart has on the world that should scare the hell out of everyone. The power of walmart can force musicians to change lyrics, logos, songs, album covers, etc. Walmart can force authors to change the covers of books. the list goes on and on. Walmart moves in, small businesses suffer, and small businesses are what truly provides jobs and contribute more to the local economy. For every dollar you spend at a local business, 68 cents stays in the local economy. Heres a great blog about the weight of walmart, I would encourage everyon to check it out, and do your own research on the "evil empire" http://alwaysupward.com/blog/the-true-weight-of-walmart/#more-6092

Yes Walmart is the big bully on the block and eliminating mom & pop stores has been going on for many years. Yes small businesses provide jobs and keep the money there. I remember when my dad opened up a hardware store and could not compete with then K-Mart. He said they could sell hammers for instance a lot cheaper than he could buy them! So in that era K Mart was the bully. Yes the last I heard WM surpassed # 1 Exxon Mobil! I shop at small businesses when I can and also K Mart/ Sears which WM has been trying to destroy for years. I liked Walmart when they first come out and think Sam had the right idea. EVERYTHING was red white and blue and made in the USA at cheap prices!!! Oh, the good old days. So the bottom line is what do we do? Everyone is looking for a deal!

Hay Jimmyt not just riding boots. work boots!! i get $100 from work to buy steel toe boots, i ALWAYS use to buy RedWing boots not because they're made in (use to be made in) America, but because they use to last YEARS!! i hated buying new boots 'cause it took weeks and blisters to break 'em in, but Redwings lasted longer then one year. sure the boots i bought were $185 and up, but i've had some last 5 years. NEVER had a pair of chineese boot last longer then six months. the thing is that the redwing boots that are made in china are still over $185, and i'm sure there's no american inspector that's testing the glue on those boots everyday, i'm pretty sure that after they do their inspections they switch out the glue to the cheaper crap!! you know them sneaky chinese!!! i'm the same way when it comes to buying tools, i don't like cheap crap, and if it's from china, it's cheap. i don't like "craftsman" tools because they now have the philosophy that people will loose their tools before they return 'em. plus, when your tools break there's never a Sears near by to replace it easily!! there's an old saying, "you get what you pay for". walmart, menards, harbor freight, etc. etc. all base their business style on selling things for cheap, that's what the people want. what about guys like me? my philosophy is, buy it once, buy it for life! (no, not the moen faucet moto but close) that's why i chose the VALKYRIE!!! (now it's cycle related!!)

Wow, that was allot said about nothing. Why shop were one has an issue.....That's the advantage of living in our country....We don't have to follow like sheep. If one is going to bitch about such things and walk right in and do business I guess there's not much to be said.

Well I went to the Cop Stop to buy some boots made in USA. While they had a few pair that were, none of them were water "proof". I asked if they had a catalog so I could order a pair and he couldn't find the one we needed. I got his business card (owner Rick) and told him I would call next week and come look at the book. I don't mind paying a little more, but wish they had them in stock. He said that he wished he could just sell USA stuff, but most want something cheaper. Sorry for the hijack, just hit a nerve. Big-T --Lowes and depot are a big issue now for independent hardware stores. I run a small paint/hardware store, and I just had a friend price an item at lowes. Retail at lowes--$83.99. COST for exact same item for me to order--$83.69. I don't need to make huge margins on every item in the store, but 30 cents is a little tight... The hardest part for me is trying to find tools and hardware that was Made in America.

I was only busting on the store clerk that told me I could not park in the auto service. I think there are alot of idiots that work at WM. When I buy something from WM I know that it will not last long so I try to stay away from there. I buy my oil (Shell Rotell T) from there and my micro fiber rags ( 12 for $5.00) when on sale. I am pretty sure that everyone on the planet knows what WM is about, buying low, selling low and cheap stuff. As I am sitting here I am trying to think of the the last thing I bought from WM that has lasted and I think it was a 3 for $6.00 Dickies socks. Wm does not sell clothes in my size (jeans or shirts) so I hardley ever buy clothes there. I wear a 40x40 jean & a 4XL shirt. I am more of a Snap-on, Klein and Mikita tool guy and WM does not sell thoes brands so no worries there. I think my wife shops there for our food and cleaning supplies and ice cream. just my ramblings

I've only been there twice. The second time was the new Super Wal-Mart in Pinellas Park Florida. I'm told it's the #1 Wal-Mart store in the Nation, in regards to sales. I should have left when I was attempting to park, that's when I first noticed my blood pressure elevating. This is a huge new super Wal-Mart and once inside I could not even navigate the isles because it's a 24 hour store and the associates were all busy packing out freight, blocking many of the isles. (and not smart enough to move or help you) They had more shiny new state of the art cash registers at checkout than I've ever seen in under one roof...only four of them were open and two of the cashiers were standing together talking, not paying attention to the long lines. The people shopping that day were frustrating, just stopping with their carts in the middle of the isles, completely oblivious to other people around them. I felt like I was in another world, decided to laugh it off and be patient, instead of showing my frustration. That was my second and last trip to Wal-Mart. Just not worth it for me.

Same here Tundra. I park by the far door since that is where I shop the most. Rarely at the grocery door. Get my stuff and the only lanes open is at the grocery side. I walk all the way down, pay, and have to walk all the way back! I been doing some shopping at our K-mart. It is seldom busy and surprised they are still open. I can park on the side of the building and walk 40' to the door. We had a guy get hit by a truck at wal mart, kinda bad to. We arrived at the scene and stuff was scattered on the building. It looked like brains and blood 12' up on the wall. We thought oh this is gonna be good. Ended up being water melon and cans of beans that exploded on impact. I still watch my back going in there.

But, but but... if you don't shop at Wal-Mart, you can get letters like this: (Yeah, it's old, and for the humor impaired it's a JOKE! And yeah, I know most of them could be done at other big box stores...)
This is why women should not take men shopping against their will.
After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Walmart. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunately, my wife is like most women - she loved to browse. Yesterday, my dear wife received the following letter from Walmart:
Dear Mrs. Samsel:
Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Samsel are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.
1. June 15 - Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking.
2. July 2 - Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at five minute intervals.
3. July 7 - Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.
4. July 19 - Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, "Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away."
5. August 4 - Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway.
6. August 14 - Moved a "CAUTION - WET FLOOR" sign to a carpeted area.
7. August 15 - Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the Bedding Department.
8. August 23 - When a clerk asked if they could help him, he began crying and screamed, "Why can't you people just leave me alone?"
9. September 4 - Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.
10. September 10 - While handling guns in the Hunting Department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.
11. October 3 - Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme.
12. October 6 - In the Automotive Department, he practiced his "Madonna look" by using different sizes of funnels.
13. October 18 - Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled "Pick me! Pick me!
14 October 21 - When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed, "Oh no! It's those voices again!"
And last, but not least,
15. October 23 - Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, "Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!"
Regards,
Tom Richards Walmart Manager
