i have a buddy with a 98 wing, acts like it is starving for fuel. it will start up and run but is VERY lazy. you can turn the choke about 50% and you can hear it trying to hit on other cylinders. it does not run rough like a dead miss, just very weak. it does have a good flow of fuel coming from the fuel pump.

Time to clean the carbs? The slow speed jets are probably plugged, assuming everything else is OK.   Undecided

gas is fresh and it started messing up all at once. he has been riding it pretty often.  Sad  . maybe the carbs need cleaning, just seemed odd to me that it started running bad all at once.

Sometimes fresh gas is not fresh. Three years ago when I had my 88 wing I received a tank full of water. I went a block, that is all the further it would run. Replace fuel to start with.

Id say Fuel filter...... Have seen them be the problem quite often in the 12 and 1500 Wings....

Always kept a spare in my 85 1200..... had to use it once. Uncle had a 93 1500.... had same problem once.

My thought was pinched fuel line, even though there should be any reason you would have caused this problem.

Was any work recently done on the bike? How did you check the fuel pump?

Then the filter sounds like the best option, along with different gas and some carb cleaner.

Check if a critter built a nest in the air box or exhaust. Had a mouse pack the muffler full of dog food on a car one time and it sounded like that. PPPPPPFFFFFFFFF.   laugh  Also had a tech leave a shop rag in the air cleaner housing on a diesel truck. Same thing. Would run but not rev. Tried to leave the shop and told them it wouldn't go. I don't think they believed me, till they found the rag in there.
