Work sucks _Let's ride

West Virgina

« on: June 10, 2012, 06:46:32 PM »

Just talked to Dr. Hundley , He was VERY appreciative and reminded me that ALL the workers are 100% volunteer and said that 5 different denominations were helping with our feed at the school . He also said that Bluefield State college really looks at what their school is used for and that by us coming that it would be a big help on them being able to continue to have access to the school , shows the school being used for community support .
Our total was $ 1780.00 which computes to 18000 lbs of food thru the co-op...yes I said eightteen thousand pounds of food to be given to those in need .
Also I had touched on this with some of you.....But I think that one thing that really made me want to help this group is....They target people like us who have a two income family...40-60 k a year income and suddenly find themselfs down to 1 income...weather it be because a job is lost, or medical, ect.
They do not turn anybody away , but they look for those that have ran into hard times and need some help .

Thanks for the report Ron and thanks for finding these groups and setting things up. It was great ride and thanks to Don, Tracy and Joe for setting it up. Thanks to Eric for working with Oz to get the T-shirts. Thanks to everyone who came. Meet lots of new Valkyrie owners, made new friends and shared time with old friends. We rode back through Cumberland Gap and Kentucky on our ride back what beautiful country. cooldude

I was leaning on the wall by the pool with all the people congregated around
talking and having fun... Joe kind of bumped into Wolf and bounced right off,
I heard Joe say "you're solid as a rock, dude"...

He's a darn good guy too  cooldude

Sounds to me like a very worthy cause and kudos from Washington to those that took part.

Good report Ron. I was greatly humbled when Santa gave the money back. It showed just how generous ALL the members off VRCC are when it comes to anyone in need. I sincerly hope that our presence riding thru the hills an byways gave us all the feeling of just how wonderful friends are to have and enjoy.

RIDE SAFE !!!

Great report and a great ride. I got to meet many of you that are on the board, and Stephanie and I had a great time.  We hope to get to do it again.  We rode back with Crazyhorse and Tommy, and wow, what beautiful country we saw.  Thanks everyone, it was special.
