I removed the CB from my Valkyrie Interstate several years ago, and recently installed a factory unit.  Everything seems to work fine except the intercom is on constantly.  When music is playing, the wife can talk to me etc; and I installed a talk switch which interrupts the radio/ipod when in operation.  The problem is: the intercom is on ALL the time.  Is it supposed to be?  We recently had J&M Elite series intercom's installed in our helmets which work fine.

NOTE: I had an issue with the passenger connector and had the local dealer fix the wiring plug, which appears to work on everything, except as mentioned, the intercom is on all the time, which seems strange to me, but I can't find anything in the manuals that mention a talk switch or voice activator on the bike, so this might be normal, please advise.

Yes, the intercom is "on" all the time.

You can adjust the volume on the tree with the v-mode button.  Push it once for intercom volume, twice for cb volume (I think - can't be sure if it's not one for CB and 2 for intercom) and you can turn it up or down with the volume paddle switch.  I have been known to turn it all the way down when the spousal unit was especially talkative. Evil

But yes, it's always on.

Yep, I understand the spousal issue....  I fought the whole intercom / cb issue for 6 years and finally caved.....  I assume since the unit is designed to be on all the time it's not that much of a nuisance.

Do you have the owner manual?

I scanned the control section for the IS. Send me an email, and I'll forward it to you.

I don't know if it will show you what you want, I didn't have the CB, and didn't use the intercom.
