I wonder if the people who are in gasoline sales and struggling to make it worthwhile at a very few percentage points of profit on each gallon get weary of the customers constantly complaining of how they're being ripped off.

Many factors go into the price of gasoline, more than just the price of crude oil.  the oil industry in this country (USA) provides a lot of people with meaningful employment, some of whom are my good friends.  It's interesting that some of the same people who will proudly spend a little more to buy an American made automobile will whine and moan about how much the American owned oil companies are making at a few percentage points of profit.

We're still paying less per gallon (or liter) for gasoline than almost any country outside of the Middle East.

I once got a B on a college paper because the instructor said I had a tendency to over-simplify in my logic.  Perhaps I've never gotten over that.   Wink

I'd like to know why it goes up $0.20 over night but only drops a penny at a time.  Angry

fudgie, they call is break it off in the consumers butt tax.

Our gas price has been steady here for about a month now.  Filled up yesterday for $2.87.9.   Oh, dat be E85......     Mom spent $3.12.9 in her Highlander.

E85 seems to work just fine in my truck,    I'm getting almost the same MPG as with the old stuff.    Old stuff, I got 18.6 MPG, with E85 I'm getting 18.3 MPG.   so, I'll keep getting E85, it was built to run on it and another quirk I've found, it has more gitty up go with the E85.
Whats the E-10 running? Thats what I get when I cross the Mississip.

Well the guy we do work for on occasion owns a petroleum trading company. He is doing well. House in- Hawaii, Trump Tower in Chicago, Miami, 3 in the county he lives in, 2 mc's, a Bentley, 3 Mercades, BMW, GMC truck, month long vacations with personal translator, and has high end 'art'. Yea, he is doing well.  Shocked

... owns a petroleum trading company.

There are certainly wealthy people in oil, lots of them.  There are also independent operators who own or operate one or two stations.  Whatever their means, the profit margin at the local distributor isn't near what some people paint.

And we still have very nearly the least expensive gasoline in the world.

It would be interesting to see the above map of Europe.  I imagine the taxes would be higher by an order of magnitude.

95% of my work is for Coca Cola who produces Dasani water,I install all there process systems and water treatment systems. There is a lot more to it then just filtering the water, alot more expense than you might think.yes their water comes from the public water system, but they take it through quite a process . did you know that most public water supplies are treated with amonia.Coke takes all the crappy chemicals that the water dept. puts in (not for your health) to keep their systems running, not to mention microbes and the ph levels. The costs are more than you would think to maintain quality of their products.
