alright, so the price per barrel is $83.50 today, right now. i saw a formula for figuring out the price per gallon from a barrel. take the price per barrel, dIvide it with 42 (number of gallons per barrel, i thought it was 55) then add the local, state, federal taxes, along with the amount of money the distributor adds on, and you get the price per gallon at the pump. here in Eau Claire we're at $3.64, has been for almost a month now. and with the above formula it should be around $3.25 to $3.50 giving the distributors a hefty 75 cents to a dollar PER GALLON profit.
what are you paying?

Oil != Gasoline
There's a LOT of work that has to be done to oil to change it into gasoline. (And I believe there's a reduction to, it's not a 1 to 1 ratio, I.E. 1 gallon of oil doesn't get you 1 gallon of gasoline.)

Funny you should ask. In Ash Flat Ar. yesterday at wally world with my card it was $3.24.9. When i got to the wally world in Mountain Grove Mo. yesterday that one was $3.19.9 with the card. Another wally world here in Mo. on the south west side of the state was showing $3.06.9 with the card. And as a side note that stretch from Ash Flat Ar. to Mtn Grove Mo. got me a smidge over 36 M P G. I posted last month after my ride to Eureka Springs Ar that i had filled up in Berryville Ar. and when i got to E S the prices had increased $.19 to $.26 a gal. Right here where i live the gas station on the highway(U S 60-63)is about $.10 higher than the station here in town. We can bitch and moan all we want but when we need gas we gots ta pay. RIDE SAFE.

Go the Gasbuddy web site, the have a map of the entire United States, the higher price/gallon the darker red, light green shows the cheapest gas. You can zoom all the way in to street level and it will show each station and its gas prices. It may help everyone when planning their route to Inzane. They also have an app for your smart phones. http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspxDave

Whatever it costs in your area, it's obviously NOT too high if the cars in the drive-throughs are still running all the time, folks just talk on the street while their cars sit and run, etc.

I work on the drilling rig end of the oil industry, so I watch the crude/fuels prices daily. When the prices get too low, drilling slows drastically... and so does my money. Most folks don't know that RUL (gasoline) is sold on the commodities market, just like crude oil. Today's price for RUL was $2.65 gallon. Add your state & federal taxes, usually about .20¢ profit to the station, and a few cents for transportation, you'll have close to your retail price. Some special blends, such as used in the PNW, are somewhat higher. (greater manufacturing costs, few refineries) True, 42 gallons per bbl (barrel) of oil products. But of that bbl of crude, only about 30 gallons average can be made into fuels, gasoline, diesel, heating oil, kerosene, & ship fuel. The US exports 1M+ gallons of fuels a day, mostly to China & India. As their economies slow (as lately) they won't bid as much for fuels and our local price will decrease. BTW, paying average $3.30 a gallon in these parts.

Alph, going to have to move to southern WI vs. up north since around Madison WI area most stations are 3.539. We went to Dubuque IA a few days ago and maybe consider moving west of the mississip since 1 hour away from us across the river is only 3.269 E10 gas and 3.339 ethanol free 87 octane.

$3.65 per gallon (85 octane) $3.75 for 87 octane out here in far Western Colorado. The tourist areas outside of Denver and over the Continental Divide are probably a dime more. Ahhhhhhhhhspen is probably around $4.50-4.75 at the only station in town. Rip City.

Our gas on the West Coast has finally started falling, thanks to the 5 refineries getting back on line. Has dropped some $.30 in the last two weeks. Down to $4.05.

I'd like to know why it goes up $0.20 over night but only drops a penny at a time. fudgie, they call is break it off in the consumers butt tax. Our gas price has been steady here for about a month now. Filled up yesterday for $2.87.9. Oh, dat be E85...... Mom spent $3.12.9 in her Highlander. E85 seems to work just fine in my truck, I'm getting almost the same MPG as with the old stuff. Old stuff, I got 18.6 MPG, with E85 I'm getting 18.3 MPG. so, I'll keep getting E85, it was built to run on it and another quirk I've found, it has more gitty up go with the E85.
