Ya never know how many good Summers ya have left.

« on: June 11, 2012, 08:48:54 PM »

Got the BIG bags(model 55, cause they will hold 55 cans of beer in each bag) mounted........nope... these aren't made for the Valk..... and the quick disconnect trunk...(cut and modified a Fatboy quick disconnect trunk mount).... .  and built a new set of pipes that get the sound out back, from under the bags...(they started as 2 brothers 6 into 6). May not be everyones cup of tea....But I think I'm gonna like it!!!!   Sure sounds good!!!!

Love the bags......but how much clearance is there? Looks like they might
get some heat from the pipes.

I have an inch clearance between the bag and the top pipe,   If I have problems, I can build a heat shield for it.  I will be keeping an eye on it. cooldude

Adding the 20 plus inches to the pipes ... and they have the baffles in... the sound is deeper and more mellow that the stock 2 Bros.  The sound is out from under the bags  and way out back... a LOT nicer for me!!!!  At least FB should be able to tell when I speed up or slowdown by the sound...LOL

Soooooo..... how much money are ya sending??? coolsmiley

Mary, it's kinda a one off..... took me a week to get it all to fit and welded up, then add $1000 to get it chromed....The cost would nearly buy ya a used Valk...LOL...  I don't know that I would do it again for myself, but once I cut the turnouts off the 2 Bros .. I was committed... uglystupid2

Love the cup holder on the side of the bag.  Now you can carry 111 cans.    Grin  Would love to see some more pics of those bags too.

btw.....Don't mean to hijack, but can you post some pics of your windshield and tell me more about it?  Looks like some kind of double wall shield of some sorts judging by the pics you posted.

BF.   The bags are BossBags model 55, made for FLH Harleys.  I had them on my Electraglide, and pulled them to put on the Valk.  I don't think Greg at BossBags builds the 55's anymore, but got and email from him this morning that he makes a model 50 that is a SWEET looking bag!!!!!  here is a link.
 http://www.bossbags.com/electra.html
The 55's have an inset for the Harley rear shocks that are not need for the Valk..... if I cut that out and put a flat ABS plate in there..... I could get 3 or 4 more cans in each bag... cooldude

The windshield is one I built for the Harley too, but it fits the Woody fairing!!!!
When I had the 1800 Wing, I had a windshield from 'Wind Bender'  and it was adjustable up and down.  I called them and ordered a set of rails from them... They asked what it was for... told them 'Harley Electraglide'  he said Hmmmm let me know how that works out....
The milled parts were a little loose and rattled on the Harley....Imagine that....  a single layer of fiberglass re-enforced tape on one side fixed the rattle.  The 'clear' outside windshield moves up and down 3 inches in one inch increments...  pretty nice!  The best thing is, it makes a flow of air between the 2 windshields that moves the air up and over you, and I can ride with the screen lower with less buffet.  When riding in the rain, the air between the screens blows the rain up and over too.  I'll try to get more pics.  Are ya gonna be a Inzane?  See ya there!!!!

Pulled the  rear wheel and put in new wheel dampeners, they came in yesterday...the old ones had pretty good wear on em ....
Finally put some Ride-on in the rear tire ta balance it, and give some flat protection.  Got the bike out on the highway to spread it around.....
I REALLY like the pipes!!!!  at 70-75 mph... very quiet!!!!   don't have the pipes rumbling under the bags.... the noise is way out behind me...and they eliminated the popping on decel.
Will find out Friday how it is for FB....but for me it is GREAT!!!!!  And it ROCKS when getting on it!!!!!   The extra length seems to help the low end torque.. the bike pulls hard!!!  only a dyno would tell for sure, but it seems to run good, and not as loud as original 2 Bros.
