any aftermarket sources for carb parts? The low jets ,needle valves & bowl gaskets total $345.00,for set of 6 from Honda..... Is there a cheaper & as good source or is it what it is?  Or do I just blow the jets clean & if the bowl gaskets were not leaking , use em? .....and  the float valves ?  Harry

Get your gaskets from Redeye. I got slow jets for $3 each at my local dealer (aftermarket).

HDL has the needle valve for $19.68 a piece. http://www.hdlparts.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=148732&category=MOTORCYCLES&make=HONDA&year=1997&fveh=3476

Shop around and you'll do much better.

Harry, I got most everything from Red Eye and HLD.. The slow jets came from HLD & were $8 ea. I measured and inspected my floats with a metric 6" scale and checked needles and seats. They looked good to me. I could shine a light through the floats and if anything had been in them I would have seen it. I soaked the carbs and parts in Gunk carb cleaner over night, rinsed them out with a water hose and blew them dry with compressed air. The slow jets looked as clean as a whistle, where I couldnt see light through them before. But again I was cautioned by folks here that they might look good but in fact may not be...so I got new ones based on the recommendations. Red Eyes carb oring kit and parts are outstanding and inexpensive compared to the dealer...and Rich is a wonderful person to deal with..and honest vendor for a change...and helpful too.

There were some recommendations that I could use the old bowl gaskets if they werent brittle or broken. They were a tad smaller it seems when I put it back together, but I used a drop or two of Scotch 1300L glue to hold the corners in place on the bowl curves. I have been busy at work so no time to work on the bike. I havent had gas in the carbs yet or got the bike to run so I dont know if the bowls will leak or not...my guess is they wont. I need to reinstall the exh pipes on the left side and replace the bowl drain hoses...then we'll see. Sure wish Rich sold ALL of the hoses...

None of those item need replacing.

Clean what you can, and reuse the gaskets.

Replacing that stuff is a waste of money and there are no benefits from getting new parts.
