Bought a box of Tul .380 ammo. Cheap Russian steel case crap. I knew that when I bought it. I figured it had inconsistent propellent loads, but I'm shooting it from a gun with virtually no sights, and a barrel little longer than the shell. (Ruger LPC) Accuracy isn't an issue.
But this crap is of such sorry quality that the casing size isn't consistent. I had a couple of shells get stuck going into the receiver. Half in and half out. Can't push it in to fire, can't eject it. I'd bought two boxes. I knew I'd have to eat the open one, but I figured they'd take the other back. NOPE. Say's on the ticket they wont accept returned ammo. (I tried any way. My contention is that it's defective.)
I'll be getting my hole makers from somewhere else from now on. Probably groceries too. I think I'm finally ready to pay a little more for the satisfaction of not shopping there.
I will write Wally world corporate. I don't expect any results, but at least I'll give them the chance to know why they've lost a customer. There was a time when I think they did give a hoot about customer service, but I don't think they care about us round eyes any more. They've moved on to more profitable ground. Oh well, that's capitalism at work.

Steel cased combloc ammo in my weapons that were designed for it (AK pattern rifles, SKS', Makarovs, etc) and brass cased ammo in my weapons that were designed for it (Everything else)

So, your just saying it OK to sell defective goods? As you say, to each his own, but I'm going to stop doing business with a retailer that knowing sells defective goods. There's a difference in cheap and defective. An oversized case isn't cheap. It's defective. Just saying.

No I agree. Live an learn. I should have bought better ammo, and will from now on. That still doesn't let Wally World on the ethical hook for selling defective goods. Of course, ethics aren't necessarily related to profits.

I doubt WM tests every brand of ammo they sell.  Wink I have a box and never shot it yet. Our WM only sells Winchester white box, never seen anything else. I'd use 'name brand' stuff in them little BUG's. Most are kinda finicky with ammo.

Horse crap....You are trying to run ammo through a weapon that it was not designed for.....The ammo would and does work fine in the cheap crap guns that you or I probably don't or won't own.
I don't have a dime in your gun, your ammo or wally world so I give less than a damn about it....I know better than to try and go cheap on ammo. The End.

Yep. I think that's the lesson I've learned. It's been almost 40 years since I've maintained a fire arm. Growing up in the swamp land of south east Arkansas, you bought Ford or Chevy and Remington or Winchester. Well .... that's not completely true, There were some Dodge folks around, but for the most part we didn't talk about them in polite company. And then there was that boy on the other side of town who drove a Plymouth. The sheriff keep a pretty good eye on him.
Anyway, it seems I've got a LOT of catching up to do. I know there are several folks on here with a lot of knowledge. (Serk) Please feel free to share. You're not likely to get many arguments out of me, because I just don't know enough to have a strong opinion. I'd like to hear what you  guys think though.

Sounds like your analysis is probably right. And if the ammo would work correctly with the correct gun, then Wally world is off the ethical hook. So the Subject line should say,  "Servers me right for buying cheap ammo."

The Sheriff used to keep an eye on me and my Plymouth too, and, I've never lived in Arkansas..
I'd bet that the ammo you bought would work just fine in a Russian or eastern block built gun.. I carried a Russian gun for awhile and liked it, they actually make some good stuff.. I like their airplanes too,, rugged and simple.. Don't get me wrong,, I'm not about to move there.. And the women,, naaaaaa..

An LCP isn't known for feeding well, even with good ammo.  A good gunsmith can tune it up.  Hoser

It's not just Wal-Mart that will not take returns on ammo.  I doubt any of the big stores like Academy, Gander Mt, or Bass Pro will.  Too easy for a wacko to doctor a round just for meanness.   Check & see who will in your area.  I'll bet if any will, it will be an independent shop that knows you.

I've never known a store that would take back ammo as you desire. Many, many retailers sell that same brand of ammo. Certainly can't boycott everyone who sells that product.

I typically see great ammo deals at www.gunbroker.com but you have to wade through the ones thnking their stuff is much more valuable than it actually is. I'm a big fan of the 357Sig round. Even on line I'll see it range from $20.00 a box of 50 to $35.00 for the exact same item.

All the best,

Mark

Not sure why some like to gang up on Wal Mart so much. But do you really think Target, Meier, K Mart, Sears, ShopKo, IKEA etc are any different? Sorry folks, but it's getting harder and harder to find much at any of our larger big box retailers that's actually made in America. I think my grand children will be in for a huge and very rude awakening within the next 5 to 15 years.

Just a thought,

Mark

Any steel cased ammo is a pardon the word used here a crapshoot.
In a well made gun.
If the LCP has tight tolerences I would not know.
I got stuck with a POS Sig P238 and was a test mule.
12K rounds, 4 trips to Sigs CS and it still gets FTEs doing double taps.
And anyone who carries a 380 is only going to take a slow fired well aimed shot.
According to Sig CS anyway.
My guns fine???? Yah sure it is CS.........asshats at Sig.

I digress
Just see it as cheap practice foder, might work might not.
Ive tried some Wolff in my Hi-Power that is very finicky about case sizes and it doesnt like steel.
It also doesnt like winchester white box.
Their 22lrs will feed in all my guns including my 58 year old S&W 41, but not in my Ruger MKll.
My little tomcat will shoot anything even dirty as heck.
So go figure??

I like 22s by the way and have 5 of them<hand guns> not including rifles.

Sometimes a letter or email to the ammo manufacturer will result in replacement.  I've had bad lots of Winchester AAs that split cases after "once-fired" and are therefore rendered useless for reloading.  Winchester knows that many spend the extra money for their AA shells just for that reason and sent a coupon for a new flat of shells (10 boxes, 250 shells) the last time I bought 6 cases.

Remington sent me two free boxes of .38 spl when I wrote them that two boxes in the case I just bought had less than 50 bullets....must have been a bad day at the packing facility.

Even if the TulAmmo people send replacement ammo you may still not like how it functions in your LCP.

There's nothing wrong with experimenting with different brands of ammo to find what works well in your pistol, but in my personal experience don't go cheap on your self-defense loads or aftermarket magazines if you plan to carry for protection.
