Saw a little 7 year old guy this morning that really touched my heart. He's a paraplegic but was smiling and laughing as he watched his siblings play. His mother said he is almost always in a good mood is a joy and inspiration to her. It got me thinking how we often complain about the most insignifcant things. If we think about it most of us have been blessed even though we have all endured some very difficult things. I thought about my own grandchildren. I have four grandsons and one granddaughter. Two of the boys were born with serious birth defects. Evan has a rare genetic disorder and requires medication every 2.5 hours. The medication can only be purchased from a lab in Zurich Switzerland. The other grandson, Jaxon, was born with a deformed heart. When Jaxon was born the right side of his heart had not developed and so he has undergone three major heart surgeries. I could tell you many things regarding their health but I mainly want you to know that they are both doing great at the time. Both are 7 years old and just finished the first grade. They play little league baseball and love to ride with PaPa on the Valkyrie. They run and play and for the most part live as  most normal 7 year olds. The little guy I saw this morning will probably never experience running and playing and that breaks my heart for him. Yet I won't forget the beautiful smile of his and the sound of his laughter. Be Thankful for what you have. Ride Safe, Hef.

amazing aren't they.  spent some time working in childrens hospital here in st louis.

some break your heart, some melt it with their smiles. to see what some of them go through and still smile and play.

i came home EVERY night and hugged my kids. just couldn't do it anymore, had to quit.

One of the scouts that did the 60 mi canoe trip with us is pretty severely crippled. Cant move without crutches and he keeps his "happy pills" with him for night.

He said he finaly found something that "kicked his ass" and that was paddling. He has the upper body strenth, but his back and shoulders are screwed up so he coundnt get paddle to water effectively. But he sure tried.

When he is along, you don't hear any of the others complaining. He will ask them to carry him if they do, he is a ball buster big time.
