I just traded my 6 x 6 pipes to sundown for his stock interstate pipes.I had 2 choices.let the rear hanger bolts go into the hanger and not be able to mount the pipes onto the head or mount the pipes onto the head and let the hanger bolts hang down below the hanger plate.I will have to rig something to keep the weight off thepipes and head. The holes are about 1/8 to 1/4 inch off.So close.Anyhow, how tight are the 6 10 mm bolts supposed to be? My book says 180 inch pounds. My wrench doesnt go that low, but is that right? Thanks for input.

I was told about 7 foot pounds on header bolts and be careful as they break easy. The stock interstate pipes should bolt right up to your bike hangers. Try loosening the bolts that hold the hangers to the frame and moving the brackets some also leave the header bolts loose alittle til you get the hanger bolts started. It is a tight fit but they should work.

I've never heard of stock pipes not fitting.  How about hanging the pipes loosely on one header bolt, loosening the hangers as much as possible, and then stabbing the pipes?

I tried leting them hang down with barely any nut threads used, and the holes were just beyond popping into place. As it is now the pipes are mounted but the bolts are below the hangers.I will have to use a muffler strap and rig something to keep the weight off.Stock pipes are heavier than the six over six.

I am having to wrap the 6x6 with header wrap. First to cover the blue and heal marks, second cause of the heat.
