2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: June 17, 2012, 05:03:14 AM »

We did a last minute ride yesterday, taking my friends son who recently bought his first bike (Valkyrie) on the time of his life. He was smiling ear to ear.
We had a great time, I had close to 13 ours in the saddle when I rolled in. Breakfast at a nice little country place, then back on the road.

We found a cool little air-strip

The weather was hot & hotter, we had a 20% chance of rain and remaned good for 80% of the day

We found this cool place on a river called The Upper Deck. We parked underneath and the owner was ok with it. This place is right on the river and kids were bridge jumping, boats passing by, people swimming. Perfect spot for refreshments on a hot day. Heres the proud new Valkyrie owner

We had a 20% chance of rain and we found it on the way home

Jerrys Triumph Rocket

Kyles new to him 2003, low milage and give away price.

A good day riding good Motorcycles with good fiends cooldude

Hey Jess,
Ceder Key is located on the Gulf Coast midway up the State. It's more like an Island in the Gulf. Not located in the Keys, which is deceiving. Definately a great little town to visit. Good shops and restaraunts, all structures still look original.

Wow that was really nice one day me and my son and son in law decided to go for a ride. Wound up going all the way down to the tip of Key West and back in one day. On the way back it was dark and my son in law was in the middle of us and we stopped on the way back about 2 hours into the ride and he asked have we passed the 7 mile bridge yet. My son and I looked at each other laughed and told him we past that about a hour and half ago.  2funny

Hey Doug, the cool little airstrip has been used by me many times in years past. Years ago, all you had to do was overfly the town and waggle your wings. By the time you landed(usually sooner) and had the plane tied down, this old gal with skin like leather and driving a beat up Chevy station wagon would pull up and you jump in. She would take you into town, tell her when you wanted to leave and she'd tell you where to meet her. At that exact minute when you wanted to leave, you'd look up and she would come driving down the street to get you. We always gave her a good piece of change...beat walking over two miles. Most reliable transportation in town next to a bicycle. If it was really hot, I often didn't land there....the strip isn't that long. There have been a few fly in with a good load of passengers in the morning, by 3:00pm they didn't dare try taking off with the temps in the upper 90's to low 100's. Then around 10:00pm or so, there would be a big exodus.

Fast forward many years, I flew Rita over there one beautiful Spring day. Overflew the town, waggled my wings and landed. Guess who pulled up....same old gal driving the same old junky wagon. I had told Rita about it ahead of time...how it used to be. She saw this gal and had to giggle, said it appeared change comes slowly to Cedar Key.  Grin

PS: Why are you parked in a Handicapped spot? tsk tsk   Wink

Cedar Key is a really neat place.

It has the feel of a 1950's beach town,

and the locals are very friendly.

Hi Joe,
It's been a while since I posted ride pics and it seems Photobucket has added some photo editing software. I was playing with it, I think I prefer a clear well focused photo over altered photos. It was fun to play with.

I agree  cooldude  We'll be doing a Florida run sometime between Christmas and New Year's as we do every year and will more than likely come right through that area.
