Other than the thickness, are the front and rear pads interchangeable??

Reason I'm asking

These pads I took off the rear have 7,700 miles on them. I'm wondering if Fronts got put on the rear????

I probably wouln't have noticed but I'm changing the tire and noticed that the pucks were out awfully far...

I don't ride the brake. Most of the time my boots are on the Hwy pegs....

not interchangeable......fronts normally dont have that metal layer and white anti squeal layer.  Those all look like rear brakes to me....clean the pucks and press back in put new ones on

I agree they are not  interchangeable. I got 38000 miles out of my last set on my Interstate. Make sure the brake pistons are clean before you push them back in or you will ruin your seals. Also they might hang up or leak.

The rear will work in the front but the front will not work in the rear. The rear has a little notch in the front that holds the front part of the shoes in place. The front shoes set on a shoulder. I know this because after running my fronts down to metal I used some old rear pads to keep me riding till new pads came in.
