For such a little squeaker, you shore do have the luck. In fact if it wasn't for your bad luck, you wouldn't have no luck at all.... PINGLE, can you read my lips, PINGLE. Quit screwing around, just replace with a PINGLE.

Pingle. Pingle. Pingle. No worries and you could be riding by now! You can lift the tank with it full. Done it several times. Only 50 lbs or so.

For such a little squeaker, you shore do have the luck. In fact if it wasn't for your bad luck, you wouldn't have no luck at all.... PINGLE, can you read my lips, PINGLE. Quit screwing around, just replace with a PINGLE. Here's what I posted to BigBF in another thread....I still do not want a Pingel....yet
"I still think that IF the OEM petcock is working right, then the "Vacuum" line is "insurance" in case a person forgets to cut the gas off and has the bad luck to flood a cylinder if the floats were to hang up...would it be worth bypassing that safety feature then??......
Oh, and BigBF.....I'm not sure that YOU did put the diaphragm in backwards....I just didn't pay that close of attention to it when I had it apart...I've only seen one apart 3 times in total...I'll DANG sure be looking VERY closely at it this time around!!!......
I did run about 7-8oz's of Seafoam in the tank when it let go the first time a few weeks ago...but I ran the bike hard for 80+ miles before it left me on the side of the road...
And, I went for a ride last Monday and the bike ran as good/hard as it ever did...I thought I was good to go....then when I cranked it this morning, it cranked up fine, but never ran up hard like it normally does with the choke on...it started running rough as it wasn't getting the gas it should have been getting....
I'm not going to take the tank back off again until I have a new cover set for the petcock..but I am going to take the old one apart and inspect it very closely..."

Email me your particulars. biglawndogNOSPAM@earthlink.netThanks.....I appreciate that offer....the guy from HDL told me on the phone about a week ago that THEY order it from Honda and usually takes THEM about 7 days to get it....and THEN they have to ship it to me...he said it'd really be pushing it for me to get it by the time the Blue/grey ride happens....I'd be happy to send it to you when it comes in.....I had also ordered a new screen/O-ring assembly...in case I want to replace those parts later... I'll send you my address from your message to me...Thanks again....

Save yourself some headaches and install a pingel already. Why do you refuse to listen to the members here? Not one person I know has had any problems since installing one. Your just asking for trouble if you continue to repair the stock oem petcock.

You can gut the stock valve of all the rubber parts and the vac. Just take all that out and JB weld up the vac port and the vent hole. It'll work just like a manual valve still having off,on, & res. I took mine apart just before the romp in the swamp last nov. I just cut a piece of gasket material and put it between the two parts of the switch housing. It was a quick fix so we could make the ride. I still haven't fix it yet. JP(hardsix) has an electic shut off valve you can put in line and wire to the key.

What did you find with your Giligan?
The Valk is at the dealer. They won't get to it until 6/10. They believe it is the pinion.

I was skeptical about getting a Pingel at first and my stock petcock never failed. I always thought that the stock unit was an unbelievably light duty device for such a fine motorcycle. I was really surprised when Honda put that turd on my scooter. I've had many Honda's and many quality petcocks. I worried about this one quite a bit because of all the failures I'd read about, so I finally took the plunge. I like my Pingel very much, but I already had a solid habit of shutting off my fuel every time I dismounted. I reach for the key with my right hand and the fuel valve with my left. Every time. I don't worry about the Pingel failing and that is very nice. Good luck Stanley. I believe I told you this was the petcock when you first reported the problem. If you want to be done with this type of problem, get a Pingel.

A question for all you Pingle users. I know it is the smart, lifetime upgrade.
While I always preach function over form, can you reach a Pingle under the tank with the OE engine hangers installed???

I think the electric valve wired to the key is a GREAT idea for oan insurance policy if you feel like you need one.
Very nice.

If you want a little theft insurance policy, put the electric fuel valve on, wired to the ignition key. But, also wire in a toggle switch in that circuit. Turn that toggle switch off if parked in a dicey area. If some one hot wires it, it will only run until the carbs run out of fuel. Be sure to mount it where you can reach from the seat, cause you want to be able to turn it on, in case YOU forget! MP

Pingle users... Will that dreaded "ugly hole" now be exposed? Can I keep my chrome engine hangers? Is there some other type of engine hanger for Pingle users? Anyone not happy with Pingle? Anyone got pics of the Pingle installed?

Sounds more likely it's a vacuum leak. If it runs then fuel is getting to it, so the valve is working. Ya'll change the vacuum lines. Maybe you didn't get one back on. Check um.
You can check the fuel valve without pulling the tank. All you have to do is pull the fuel line off the valve and hook a long hose to it, so you can catch the fuel in a gas can. then pull the vacuum line off of the intake that goes to the fuel valve. turn the fuel valve on and pull a vacuum on the vacuum line. Fuel should flow. you can also drain the tank this way.

The hole will be exposed. I cant get my pic resized to post today of the installed pingle. Big Mike is working on getting us pingle owners some chrome. I like my pingle. Had for 2 yrs now. Non vac type. i'm use to turning the oem off anyway. Sometimes I forget and leave this one on for a week with no problems. The only thing was to get use to reaching under to turn it off. Its second nature now. Worth the money for a pc of mind, unless your like Steamer and like to piss with it for 3 weeks! LOL

Yes you can. If your feeling flush and want insurance, a Pingle with vacuum operation is an option. I went with the standard Pingle and a 12 volt valve. The valve wires up easily right where it is by tapping onto a coil wire and an engine bolt - done for ~$130.

forgot to mention that it stopped running when the carbs ran out of fuel....lol... There are many ways to skin a cat...and I am considering all of them...I'm not counting anything out yet, but I had about 75,000 miles of good riding before the old petcock started acting up...

I have the vacuum operated Pingel (1311-CH ?) and have never had a problem with it. I kept the hangers. I bought a medallion from JC Whitney to cover the hole. You can reach the valve while seated on the bike. The only down side is the small reserve capacity.
