I purchased the MARS alternator back in Feb and installed with no issues.  After getting another from Mars because the first 1 was so loud, I decided to just run it for the season and see how it goes.
I have hearing problem and I can still hear this alt whining like a bad power steering pump.  it is almost embarrassing.
would buy a different one but the funds just are not there.
it is putting out the correct amps and seems to be doing it's job, but man if I can hear it, what does it sound like to someone with good hearing?
Should I Ben concerned?

To be very truthful, I can't imagine what he is doing to cause his rebuilt alternators to be so noisy.  I too experienced the same thing!  I even changed the alternator drive dampers and no change. Then I removed the rebuilt and installed a borrowed OEM NEW in the box one, just to see if.  The OEM new one was whisper quite!!  Because this was the second one (He exchanged one because of my excessive noise complaint) I decided to see is it quited down to an "acceptable" level with used. It's been a couple of years now (about 35K miles) and it's quiter, but still is noisy, if compared to a new OEM!  I will say that it has maintained a rock-solid 14.1 volts.  I do have a set of OEM bushings and bearings ready for the next go around.

if you don't have a bunch of electrical stuff, lights/heated cloths/heated seat/ hand warmers/well you get the idea. you don't NEED a high output alt.
i believe the mars alt are higher out put. if the price is close, well..... Smiley
