I seem to have trouble staying in line, the bike wanders left and right. What  should  I check to solve this problem? One more thing, when I lean slightly off center, left or right,  I get a noise from the wheels. Do you have any ideas that could solve this problem ?

Need more info.  Are the tires new?  Are you new to the bike?

If you are wandering side to side and have a noise in the wheels and are not looking for a problem then just ride till it drops, at least then you wont have to diagnose the problem. Either you wont be around or the bike wont. good luck.  Cheesy

Tires will make noise while cornering once the center is worn flat. There have been rare problems with worn/loose swingarm bearings. This could cause wierd handling. Maybe others will weigh in with more info on this.
Let us know if you get it figured out.

More info please. What kind of tires; what pressures are you running; how many miles on the tires and the chassis. It sounds normal to me. I call it the highway melody of the Valkyrie.

I'm guessing your tires are dunflops.
They live up to their name.

Time to get off and take a look.  Could be a few things.  My first thoughts would be tires and wheel bearings.

Define "wheel" when describing your noise.  Are you talking tire noise or WHEEL noise...such as in wheel bearing or some other mechanical issue related to wheels?    Or, are you taking about tire noise.

What you are describing is EXACTLY the same effect that I had with the last set of tires that I had on my Valk Standard.....Metzlers.

They where the biggest/dangerous POS tire I think I've ever had on a bike.  They grabbed every little rut and uneveness in ANY road surface and would (sometimes even violently) throw the bike all over the place.  Ya know how some roads, especially older asphalt, will develop tracks, or ruts in them where the cars tires traverse....leaving a high spot in the middle of the lane....and high spots towards the outside of that lane?  At least in the ungodly heat of Florida it seems that asphalt actually melts and warps outta shape here over time and these ruts develop in the road surface.

I also had to mussle the bike thru turns with those Metzlers on the bike.  They made noises too...especially when cornering they got pretty loud.

What your describing sounds exactly like those Metzlers I had on my Standard.

Cured it with a brand new set of Dunlop Elite III's.  Haven't experienced any of those wild rides like I did with the Metzlers since changing to the E III's.

One other thing you might want to check if your not running those death trap Metzlers.......check your air pressure in your tires.  It's just a guess, but under inflated tires might cause your swaying.

Good luck.   cooldude

to try and determine what the problem is???  The wandering can be a number of things from tires to bearings[both wheel and steering] to even including the amount of the drivers alcohol consumption.. angel The noise can be determined to be either tire or mechanical[bearing] including noting whether its coming from the front or rear or both..

Yeah, I didn't ever think of that possibility.

Maybe the the staggering, oh yes, weaving only seems to occur coming home from the bar at night.

You are way to old to be behaving like that.
