Greetings all, Wondering if anyone out there has any trouble with their shoulders from riding the valkyrie? I've been riding it for six months and all the sudden I'm having a considerable amount of pain in my shoulders. Also wondering if there is a fix for the problem? I'm thinking its something to do with the handlebars.

Yep.  Same problem.  I put these riser extensions on and no more pain.

(I'm not the seller or affilliated with the seller but in dealing with him I found his workmanship and customer service to be top notch.)

Rarely does a bike fit the rider as is. Seat, bars & pegs can all be tweaked to fit your induvidual needs.  cooldude

Try a set of Deuce risers, fairly cheap great looking fix that lets you adjust the angle of the bars for a custom fit.

Do they even make them for the Valk? All I can find is Harely.  ???

The Harleys work just fine.  You have to ream the mount holes in the top triple slightly.  It isnt enough that you cant go back to stock if you desire.   Probably several hundred on this board have done this mod, and I have never heard of anyone regretting it.

Sand the bottom flat then drill the mounting holes to 1/2 inch.  The holes are 12mm and 1/2 inch is 12.7mm so you are barely removing any metal.

Drilling the tree may only be a removing a little metal, but there is no need to if you use these adapter bolts from Baron.

Description:

Stud kits allow most Harley-style risers with standard ½” x 13 threads to be converted to mount on Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki cruisers
All studs have one end that is ½”-13 x ¾” that threads into the riser’s base
The other end of the stud and the shoulder are machined to fit the triple tree of the different manufacturers
Includes 2 studs, 2 aircraft nuts, 2 washers and 2 jam nuts
Studs thread into risers allowing mounting to metric triple trees
Installation is easy and instructions are included
Riser bolt kits have the following dimensions - check your bike for correct fitment prior to purchase:
Honda models: (12mm x 30mm stud w/10mm D x 11mm shoulder)

One more question - Why are these so mush cheaper than any others I've found?

those are 2in setback. correct me if i'm wrong but the duece is 4 in setback.

and with something as important as steering components, i would want to be SURE they were solid and machined correctly. for $40 there has to be corners cut somewhere.
another member bought some risers that broke through the casting.
not that same type but...

just my opinion.

I've been having some right wrist/elbow/shoulder pain as well, and had remembered seeing a thread here a long time ago about it, but couldn't find it using the search feature.

I just ordered these: http://www.directlineparts.com/product.asp?pid=13483 and will let everyone know how they work out for me.  Got them from a local shop (M&M Leather in Greensburg, no affiliation etc), with the stud kit, for $76 out the door.

Well hell, just went out and looked at mine. They're Lamonsters so I guess I'll stick with them. I thought they were stock. That'll teach me not to think next time.  crazy2

Fritz, I have the Aeromach (same as your HDL LaMonsters) risers on one bike, and the Deuce on the other.

When I put the Aeromach on, there was a huge improvement from the 3 1/8" stock risers (no more shoulder fatigue and better handling, straighter/cleaner slow riding and stops).

The Deuce came on my 2d bike, and I like them too, but at 5'9" 33" shirt sleeve, the Aeromach are better for perfect handling at all speeds, and the Deuce are better when kicked back on the HWY pegs leaning into the backrest, purely cruising (though I do the twisties with them too).  JMHO

Also the Aeromachs require nothing more than turning the wire clips on the bars 180*, the Deuce generally need rerouted throttle cables (inside the tree).

Also remember, any bars can be loosened in the risers and rotated up or down a few degrees.
