# 1.

Hwy 325 north from Calupin Volcano in the NE corner of New Mexico

Follow 325 to Folsom, NM and then take a left on Hwy 72 to Raton, NM

72 is on top of the Robinson Mesa.

#2

Hwy 261 SOUTH to NORTH. Runs from Hwy 163 north of Mexican Hat up to Hwy 95 to Hanksville, UT

Looks fine on a map but pay attention to the squiggly, curvy section in the middle. Google Earth shows it very clearly

IT'S GRAVEL and a steep upgrade with sheer drop offs and switchbacks. The view from the top is worth ever yard of the rough, filling loosening 3 miles. It's stunning.

Sunds like most of the driveways in East Tennessee, as far as the road condition, minus the view of course.

Trip of a lifetime you are on, make the best of it, make it back here safely.

Take your #1 road sometime in the Fall. That route is lined for many miles with scrub oak that turns a GREAT red every year. cooldude

Just did your #2 about a week ago from North to South.  Agree 100%.  Sort of made the Grand Canyon later that day anticlimactic.
