I have one set with the "ZAL" top cord and corresponding "ZB" bottom.  I have another set with the "PAL" top cord and the required "PB" bottom.  I know that I can't mix these tops and bottoms because they have different connecting plugs, but my question is will they both fit the same headset?  The "PAL" top cord plugged into my existing "ZAL" headset, but I'm not sure that they are wired the same.  I checked the J&M website and they don't list the "ZAL" cord for use with the HS-BCD279-OF headset.  I know I could go out to the bike and test it, but it is raining here and the bike is in the storage shed.  BS melts in the rain, so I've been told... I can't answer your question, but I've always received great service on the phone with their techs. cooldude

I've got the Z series cords for my helmet and the P series for my backseater.  The plugs for the headset and the I/S's wiring harness are the same.  The plugs that connect the upper and lower cords aren't compatible.

Finally took the time to contact J&M tech support.  The "P" series cords and "Z" series cords will interchange (as matching sets) with both headsets.  The difference between the series is durability.  The "Z" cords are heavier duty and cost much more, but the "P" series will get the job done.

Glad they helped you out, Kyle.   cooldude

I just called them to make sure I understood which components I need to purchase to convert my headset from my Arai Classic to my Shoei full face.  I want to reuse my speakers and thought I'd need a clamp-on upper + full face mic.  The gentleman on the phone wasn't sure about the mic/helmet interface, took my number, asked someone else, and called me back in less than 10 minutes to tell me I didn't need a new full face mic after all - that the helmet I'm going to has too much ducting for the button mic.  By reusing my boom mic I save 80 bux!  Then, he gave me a promo code to save 15%!  And Ground shipping was free!

Promo code, good through 4 July 2012, for use at the J&M website is 218P51269.

Thanks for the promo code, Disco. I just used it to get a complete spare set of cords that will work with both helmets.   cooldude
