Got on my bike today and both of my headlights are out. I have a Signal Dynamics headlight modulator installed. Everything has been fine till now. I figure its doubtful both headlights went at the exact same time. Thought I would throw it out there before I pull the front fairing off.

Open and clean the starter switch, and check the relay. Starter switch turns off the headlights to get more power. Fred.

use a multimeter or continuity tester and see if you have voltage available and where you lose it.....................

Strange, it must be going around. I'm chasing the same problem on my Goldwing. I put in a new 15amp fuse and replaced the 20amp relays. No joy so far. I've cleaned the starter and headlight switches. I think one of the handlebar switches failed . I woke up this morning thinking about the problem, I have a headlight modulater on my Wing too....., maybe?

I had the light sensor on my I/S's headlight modulator go out one night. When I flipped the high beams on, they would flash. Ended up removing the modulator at a gas station. Marty

I just got done pulling both switches apart to make sure they were clean and they were. Cleaned the contacts just in case while I was there. Called Signal Dynamics and they told me to do pretty much what I thought. Pull the fairing and check the connections and remove the module and see if the headlights work. I'll be back.

I have on occasion had to turn the modulator off (low beams) and on (high beams) a few times to get it to work properly. The modulators are a sensitive electronic instrument that handles a lot of current and they some times need a little cycling to get them back on the track.
Additionally I have had my headlights burn out at near the same time. I chalk that up to good manufacturing practice. So burning out like reported could be a normal occurrence although unusual.

Pulled the fairing and bypassed the modulator. Still nothing. Took out one of the bulbs and put in an old replacement that was working when removed, still nothing. Fuse is also good. Thats about as much electrical trouble shooting as I can do. Im really clueless when it comes to electrical. Have to call my guy to figure it out.

I already pulled apart both switches and they were clean. Where is the relay you are talking about to check?

It's the starter relay, under the right side cover, Spray electrical contact cleaner on it, if that don't work, take the wires loose and clean the contacts with wet or dry sandpaper. Search this site for starter button maintenance for illustrations. Hoser

Start at the headlight fuse with a test light or meter check for power. If good go to the headlight switch power to switch ok power from switch ok. power to modulator ok if power from modulator ok. there are relays for both the high beams and low beams. Just a quick thought check the ground side of the headlight sockets as no ground will also kill all light functions of hi/and low beams.

Steelers......I am the same place with my Wing. Checked, replaced and cleaned everything. No luck. I don't know what this means, but my high beam light is on in my dash, AND I know my headlight modulator is working, when I cover up the sensor you can see the blue light stop "flashing". I'm thinking the handlebar headlight switch failed. This getting to be above my pay grade Sorry this isn't totally Valkyrie related, but I do have a Valk sitting on the other side of the garage.....so now it's Valk related....

How are you coming on your lights? Your IS runs both the high/low through relays.
Your bike runs, but no lights?
If you turn the high beam on, does your indicator light come on? If it does, you have power coming from the relay towards the head light.
Since you already did both switchs, like mentioned, start with a meter on the fuse. I can never get a large enough clear copy of the PDF schematic to see. Just follow the power from the fuse to the next step in the wire, which should be the switches.
The relays are all on the front of the battery box. Maybe remove the connectors and replace.
