I'm looking for driver foot pegs that are wider than the stock ones. By wider, I mean that they extend out farther from the sides of the bike, as opposed to being bigger from front to back of the bike. My feet are wide, and I always feel like half or more of the width of my foot is off the peg. I think it's also a factor that I don't want to always have my legs pressed inward toward the tank, and widening my legs away from the tank makes my feet want to be more outboard as well.

I know there are a lot of wide-footed folks like me out there. What has worked for you on your Valkyrie?

I don't like floorboards, so that's not an option for me. In fact, I wouldn't mind if the pegs were narrower than stock from front to back.

I've done a lot of searching in these forums, and I've read Mark T's directions on how to extend some kuryakyn footpegs. Are there any cheaper options than kuryakyn? Are there stock pegs from other bikes that would work on the Valk? Are there peg options that don't involve a lot of labor or fabrication?

Also, I should mention that I have the Rattlebars peg relocater kit installed (love it!), and I plan to keep that on. So, for cornering clearance, I suppose any wider pegs I find should only be a 1/2 inch or 1 inch wider than stock?

Thanks,
rr

It would probably be easier to get new feet! Grin

I have my kury hiway pegs mounted low. I set my heal on the oem pegs and my toes on the hiway pegs. Kinda like a floor board but brings my feet out and more to the front.

That's the impression I'm getting! Not a whole lot of ideas flooding in here...

Thanks, Fudgie. That sounds like an interesting setup. I might have to try that if I can't find a normal (not highway) peg that I like. Or maybe I'll have to try something labor-intensive, like MarkT's extension plan. But I don't have drill presses and such to make that happen.

I was really hoping that there would be something like the 1100xx Blackbird shifter peg mod, which I did and loved. In a search, I saw some people talking about Honda 1100 Ace footpegs, but there weren't many details. I need to figure out if those would be wider than the Valk stock pegs.

You would probably drag earlier in turns.  I know that my foot is the frequently the first thing to drag.

They are Kury dually Iso pegs.

. . . But I don't have drill presses and such to make that happen. . . .

But if you really want to try to tackle a project like that, you have a fellow rider on the south side that does.  AND my next door neighbor owns a machine shop, but I try to save favors from him for really hard and important jobs.

We can git 'r done.

I'm sure you're right. I'm not a corner carving type, but I certainly don't want to have my pegs catching in any situation.

I hope Mark doesn't mind me posting links to his site. But here is the page:

Those seem to be the most popular choice around here, from all I've read. Thanks!

Thanks for the offer to help! I really do appreciate it. If I do decide to tackle this in a way that requires the heavy-duty tools, I'll get in touch with you. Would be good to meet another Valk rider in the area, too. Thanks, again!
