I'm looking for a single contact (preferably by phone, Internet is OK) to order seals for front wheel and Orings for rear end and if I need to order seals (not sure) if I replace rear wheel bearings.

Is there anything else I would need?

My Valk has sat around more than driven....sad to say Sad  but not since I've owned it.. cooldude  For me it's peace of mind.

97 GL1500C with 23K  Front wheel is off and bearings out, will probably wait to work up the courage to do the rear, but I have noticed grumblngs and after front wheel bearings are changed I will know its the rear. Grin

Thanks for everything!  Michael

www.carolinabikeandtrike.com

this is who you want for your orings, they sell a kit for the rear (incl the mysterious 3rd oring).  sorry can't help with the bearings but to say, check with cheap cycle parts or bike bandit.  sometimes you can get them for the same price from your dealer so look around.  check shop talk for alternative #'s you may find them at an auto store

Bearings are available locally in parts stores. Seals too. The O rings are harder to find due to metric measurements. Carolina B&T is a good source.

I can't imagine you have wheel bearing issues with only 23K miles......going out on a limb here, if the bike has not been driven much, are you still on the original tires? If so, are they hardened to the point of being very noisy, or have the rear splines/pinion cup ever been lubed.  Did you determine if either of the front bearings was bad/rough after removing them?

There's no way that the original Dunlops went 23 thousand miles.   Cheesy Grin

I have heard guys on this board state they get 27K per tire......must ride with no twist in the wrist!  Ya gotta admit 23K and bad bearings is a stretch...huh.

Last year I installed the 3rd set tires, so Yes I twist the throttle  Grin Grin

Front bearings are out and were not the problem, but I ordered new SKF's from bearing house and new front seals from the local dealer, Bike will be back up and running this weekend.  My next project will be to go after the rear end(hope my girlfriend isnt listening)  Evil

I guess I will have peace of mind on all the bearings and looking forward to servicing the final drive and wheel for the first time myself.  First time will be the toughest then I will be like " What the Heck, why was I worried about his at all.

I do wish we could get some great quality videos of these projects so the fear of doing these projects would be greatly reduced.

Thanks Again

So, do you know on the 3 tire swaps, was the spline/pinion cup lube done and do you know it the 4 bolts on the final drive were loosened before the axle was tightened each time.  Perhaps the grumblings are coming from dry/worn final drive splines....
