Taxes going up, taxed if you are just alive, Employers now know for sure they can't afford to employ you due to rising health costs. We are screwed, hope you like the change, cause that is all you and I will have in our pockets from now on. Obama Just say no

Both houses are full of self interested, weak, pathetic, politcally scared f wits who only want to hang on to the money we the tax payers supply them in the way of salary, benefits etc.

The American public has got the form of government it richly deserved by too many NOT getting off their lazy ESPN watching, reality TV watching butts and voting.

Tough titty. Y'all deserve it.

Y'all should be ashamed. The recent French elections had a voter turn out of nearly 80%. That makes the American voter look really quite feeble and completely uninterested in the future of their country.

The much vaunted Tea Partiers appear to be as bad as the long term slime.

Why are you bashing Britman, he's right on target as I see it. It is a sorry mess of affairs throughout our legislative and judicial system, to say nothing of the monarchy now fully ensconced in the White House(hopefully for only a few more months). I think if a larger percentage of people would get out and vote, there might just be a change in the wind. tickedoff

Al is correct. We are most likely screwed. This "health care" mess will cement the majority that the libs/Dems/socialists/progressives or whatever they call themselves this week have wanted for decades. It is not & has never been about healthcare, it's about federal control. All that is left to do is collapse the dollar, blame capitalism, & start over with everybody equal.... Equally poor & dependent on those in power at the federal level. And boy do we have a healthy start on the dollar collapse. tickedoff
I've seen it coming for quite a while now.

Oh, and Britman is right. We've done it to ourselves.  Embarrassed

Paul has it nailed!.  Too many are sitting on their duffs because their attitude is F--- you, I've got mine.

As a former councilman,  I know the value of getting out the vote.  The voting in this primarily Wasp community is consistently low.

On the other hand, people with a real interest in government giveaway programs are at the polls.  They vote and believe in BS from politicians, they don't check the politicians record,  and don't care about our Republic .

Looking back at my first sentence the same can be said for some others but for different reasons.  BTW, when is the last time that you've seen the word WASP?   Not PC any more, I guess.

You completely miss my point.

The French voted.

The French felt involved in the political procedure in their country.

The Republican supporting Americans sat on their whining, lazy arses moaning and groaning expecting someone else to go vote the way the lazy felt the vote should go.

If Americans had felt involved in the last Presidential vote we would have had a higher turnout of the population. AND the result would have been different. Go do the research and see how many Republican supportes DID NOT VOTE.

This year it seems the Ron Paul supporters and others want to take their ball home with them because their guy didn't get more votes in campaign primaries and many have publically stated they will not vote. What a juvenile attitude. They are going to help PresBo get re-elected. Then they too will sit back and whine about the Federal Govt.

Not too politically involved, but our health insurance thru my wife's work has gone up this past year way too much considering instead of only paying a 25 dollar co-pay with 100% covered pretty much after that as in years past, but starting this year, we have to pay around 44% of the first 500 bucks per family member.  So, basically, since we do not use it hardly at all, health insurance is now only good and worth keeping and paying thru the nose in case one of us say have to spend 5K or more on a major health issue.  If I was single and didn't have a family to care for, I wouldn't be spending on health care at all thru employers since personally right now in my life, I don't see the need for it.  Call me selfish or stupid, I don't care, just the way I feel.

Now that Obamacare is constitutional, I foresee us paying more next year in health insurance to pay for the people who do not have health insurance so they can get health insurance.  I surely hope I am wrong, but why can't the people who use their health insurance tons more than we do pay their fair share instead of us who do not use it rarely have to pay thru the nose just in case we may need it ever?  As far as I see it,  I am not going to the dr. now and in the future ONLY if I am on my death bed as I have not been going anyways the past 40+ years.  Health care sucks now, just wait until Obama administration gets its way then see the U.S. in the poor house even more than it is now.   Maybe I will be wrong, sure hope so, but highly doubt it.

I'm one Republican supporting American that tried like crazy to get everyone to really look into the issues as well as the candidtes,, not just listen to the network news liberal talking heads,, and make up their own minds.. I hate to say it but most were just too lazy [ they say they were too busy] to do it.. Some Republican friends voted for obama,, they are sorry now,,but,, never the less,, they did it..
And I think you're right when you say that its the baby boomers fault.. We've had it too easy, got complacent, and just let things get away from us..
Some elections are important,, some not so much so.. I think this upcoming one is extremely important if we are to save our country.. I don't feel like that worst is behind us..

And the talking head conservatives like Lush Windbag, Beck, Hannity who simply beat the same drum over and over and over until their listeners get hypnotized by the incessant repetition.

I have heard all 3 on many occasions take a sound bite that suits their rhetoric. I have then gone to find that sound bite to discover that they have omitted words before and / or after to bolster their bias.

Of course if the program listeners are too fricking lazy or ignorant to wonder if the truth is being broadcast then again you will get what you so richly deserve for sucking on the teat issuing poison.

We have to determine the truth for ourselves.

I'm sorry but in a way I think I need to disagree with Britman on this. It's not that we need more people to get out and vote. What we need is less, shortsighted, ill-formed, waterhead voters. Maybe even an IQ test before people are allowed to vote would help.

And, possibly an IQ test before someone can run for office wouldn't be a bad idea either.

One of my kids has already been told his company will be dropping their health insurance because it will cost less to pay the extra tax penalty then it will to pay the increased insurance costs. Was this caused by people not getting out and voting or was it caused by "waterheads" voting?

Do you think the peta people who seem to run much of government aren't going to use obama care and mandatory health checks to drive down meat consumption? Do you think they aren't going to use the new health care system to drive political correctness? Do you think government doctors aren't going to eventually ask about your firearms ownership? Of course they are, it's the logical conclusion and only the short sighted wouldn't have foreseen it. This is going to be Orwell on steroids.

On top of all that we have another 4500 enforcement agents being hired by the IRS to enforce the new "not a tax".

My opinion is that most people smart enough to know better did vote. The ones who didn't know better, and the ones who live on the "wages of others" instead of making their own way in life just out numbered us. Getting more waterheads to the polls won't help.

The waterheads who seem to out number the thinking anymore are being driven like lemmings over a cliff they are incapable of seeing and like it or not, they're dragging us along with them.  Sad

So wrong and against what this wonderful country stands for.

EVERYBODY who is eligible to vote should vote. It's their right.

We all need to be better informed.

Until we get an overwhelming majority of the voting population voting the people of this country have failed.

It isn't until we have the majority of the  people voting that we will get the Fed Govt the people really want.

The first statement is WRONG unless accompanied by the second, IMHO.
during the last Prez election, the one America lost, I asked a guy at work
who he would vote for. "Obama, cause I don't like McCain and I don't want
Bush to get elected again."  True story. In the recent 'downsizing' at work
he was let go even though he had gobs of seniority. Although it may not
sound nice, we all know he was too lazy and...uh..."unintelligent" to have
a job. (You'd have to work where I do for a while to understand WHY they
kept him there for so long!!)

It's very easy to see Britman's point,as he doesn't take his citizenship and country for granted like so many of us do. A whole generation of our young men has recently fought for our safety and to preserve those freedoms most of us take for granted.. If you don't vote, you have no right to bitch.

Geez, where do I start?

What needs to happen is to have only people who have a tangible stake in this country be able to vote.

Either:
Own a taxable property (House, Vehicle or similar)
Own a business
Own qualifying investments (401 k, retirement pension)
Be/Been gainfully employed within the previous 5 years
Past / Present Military Service
But some kind of tangible stake in this country above mere citizenship. Shoot, Simply being a taxpayer (aside from sales taxes). would qualify. (Income, property, vehicle, business would qualify) And set in the framework of a Constitutional Amendment.

It is ridiculous to have a system that allows the majority to vote to take what you have earned or to vote to take more from the government who then takes it from those who earned it.

We have a political wing that panders to those who want more government programs, who are content with being dependent on government, and those who demand ever more from the government. A political wing whose mantra is to “have the wealthy pay their fair share”

This is a land of FREE people. The idea that we can vote to take MORE of what a FREE person has EARNED simply because they have it, in my mind is an idea that smacks of tyranny
I thought the question was settled some 230 years ago. Apparently we must settle this question once again.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”
Alexis de Tocqueville

And here we are. Tocqueville’s words are chilling they are so on the money.

A great and comprehensive reform of Government, likely through a Constitutional Convention type of approach, is needed before any changes can hope to be attained.

Congressional Term Limits Amendment

Congressional Compensation Limits Amendment (Increases in question put to vote by the people during Presidential elections. Use Electoral College to cast votes on this question per State model during Presidential election).  No Congressional Pensions. (They need to go home and get a job.)

Balanced Budget Amendment

Presidential Line Item Veto Power Amendment

Voter Minimum requirement Amendment. (Define some simple, easily attainable, tangible stake, above mere citizenship, that one must attain in order to vote in an election)
Basically, can’t vote if you are just a leech. (If you paid taxes to a local, state, or federal government, other than sales taxes, you would likely qualify)

Imagine a family of five. Mom and Dad and the Kids.
They vote on everything. The three kids vote for free food, free clothes, free toys, free electronics, free transportation, free housing, not a single obligation and the rest of Mom and Dad’s money.
Mom and Dad just have to keep plugging away.

It’s time for the kids to grow the hell up. It’s not unreasonable to have the kids clean their room, make a meal, take out garbage, mow the yard, even get a job, if they want a say in the household.

It’s time for this Country’s kids to grow the hell up.

Mike, they are growing up, but their fat ass is in front of the TV.

One of my grandkids, you have to thump her on the head to get her attention so you can tell her or ask her something.

Someone could walk in the house, pull a gun and shoot her mom, grandmother and sister, she'd never hear it or know who it was.

She comes to my house, and I tell her no TV while eating, she has a tizzy.   Told her the last time she was her I'd beat he ass if she didn't shut it off.    She gave me to understand that she would dial 911 and tell them you were beating on her.   Told her if she didn't have it shut off by the time I counted to 3 we would see about that.   I got to 2 and off it went.    Then when she was done eating,  changed the channel to an unused one and then hid the remote.    She told her mom I was a mean old man & she hated me, her mom told her she lived through it, so she probably could also.     That really hurt her feelings.    We will see how much of it she remembers the next time she is here for the night.

I was taught, to wash my hands and face before a meal.    Waited till everyone was seated and mom said Grace.  We talked among ourselves.   When we were finished eating, we asked to be excused, and we took our dirty dishes to the sink.     I don't know where it didn't help me in any.    I know it helped alot when I went through the USMC boot camp.   After graduation it was lax.

It is sad that many dont get out and vote...but at the same time if you dont have a job, pay taxes or own property you should not be able to vote!!!    JMHO
AND WHY THE H-LL NOT?Thats like saying only the rich people can vote
actually it's almost getting to be like congress out here in the general population. they can vote themselves a pay increase by voting in a certain party. Evil coolsmiley
