I'm in the process of installing a HD Street Glide Batwing on my Valk.  As anyone who has done this and used the Valk headlight knows, you need to trim the batwing around the headlight housing.  So, how much of a gap around the headlight housing do I need? Right now, I have it as a snug fit, just touching all around.  But I'm worried about them vibrating against each other and making noise, not to mention scuffing the paint and chrome.  So I'm thinking I need to open it up a bit more, but how much?  1/16"?  1/8"?  More?

I placed mine snug on the headlight ... and then added a rubber strip on the fairing's headlight opening. It's been setup this way for approximately 8 or 9 years.  Smiley

I've had mine mounted within 1/8 inch all around for 6 -7 years with no issues at all. As long as it is solidly mounted and doesn't move you should be fine.  I do like the idea of a rubber strip around the opening.

What brand of lower air deflectors do you have attached to the fork tubes? Do you like them?

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.
