Everybody likes an embarrassing  story, especially when it's captured on video.  (This site isn't supported for embedding and the embedding code doesn't work so it's a link)

http://vholdr.com/video/dropped-valkyrie

Last year after running the dragon, we went a bit further and pulled over in a lookout.  First embarrassing thing is I missed a downshift (thought I was in 2nd but was in 3rd) Embarrassed.

The next thing was not noticing there was a slight slope to the parking lot.  I got a little lazy and went to put my foot down with the wheel turned.  The ground was several inches away from where I thought it was.   I'm short with a 30" inseam and there's no way I'm holding up the Valk with the girlfriend and I on it.  With the bike on a strong lean, I  have to lower it to the ground..

At the end you can see sportrider dude come over to help pick up the bike.  I'm sure he's thinking dumba$$ cruiser rider  2funny Smiley.

The only thing damaged was my pride. No harm to the bike.

Ride Safe.

Another VRCC member who shall remain nameless put his kickstand up, forgot and then reached to drop a coffee mug into a trash bin. Over it went.

Oh yeah! Four years ago, did it at T intersection by the Cherohola, thought I was in 1st gear in a left turn, I was in third, stalled it and  fell over. Plenty of help picking it up though and four witnesses.

Thanks Joe.  I never really could tell where the Dragon ends and the Skyline starts.  I will modify the tags but will title will have to remain as it can't be changed without creating a new video.  I'll delete the video and make a new one in a few months.

Yep, I can relate, and it happened to me not too far from where it happened to you.  Being from FL, I am used to flat pavement in gas stations. in North Carolina we stopped for gas at a station that had to have a 30degree slope to the pavement.  While I was doing a u-turn, a car came into the station kinda fast, I was worried he didnt see me, I stopped, in that instant forgot I was on 30degree slope, tried to put my foot down, I must have looked like the Flintstones as my leg had a repeated pedaling motion looking for pavement but all I got was air.   Valkyrie fell over,  "downhill" side, and dang near rolled upside down.  Got some scratches I wasn't too happy about.....  Embarrassed

Been there .... done that! Worst was when I got off the bike to close the garage door .....  Shocked oops, guess I didn't have the kickstand down.

And then there was that time on the FCR when Lady Draco was having problems with the Green Monster ... in an act of Chivalry, I dropped my bike in front of the park rangers so they would assist us in getting the Trike somewhere safe  ... that's the story and I am sticking to it!  cooldude

Stopped at the nearby convenient store, Tried to find the kick-stand with my left foot, Pant leg caught on the peg from the kick-stand (Kinda like getting your pants leg caught in the bicycle chain) Couldn't get it unstuck fast enough and like slow motion over it/we went.

In slow riding, I ride the brake with my right foot and work the friction zone and throttle.  This allow the maximum control of the bike.  I did put my left foot down.  There just wasn't any ground under it  Grin.

The problem is I'm short 5'7" with a 30" inseam.  I can barely flatfoot the bike on level ground.  Even if both feet were out I would have been messed up.  When I sat back on the bike to leave, my right foot was about 2 inches from the ground.  I had to pull forward so the girlfriend could get on.

In retrospect, I should have straightened the wheel and pulled forward a couple of feet. I probably could hold the bike up if it was straight... maybe  Roll Eyes

Anyone ever been real "excited" and while quickly HEAVING the bike off the kick-stand, let er lean a little to far to the right and the next thing you know is that you're gently setting her down on the right cruise peg!

Here we go... Ah -1.. 2.. 3..  oh @#%$#%

Nope, never.   angel

in 2001 wife and i rode to california from here in Knoxville, while returning through Death Valley, going from Bishop, CA to Las Vegas (I think about a 160 trip between gas stations) I had to take a dump.  Never had ridden in the desert before and besides they had sprayed fresh tar on the shoulder. Anyway, I had to stop or crap in my pants, so I pulled over and as soon as I hit the sand, it went all the way over, not just on the angle like it had before.  Gas started coming out, a big bumble bee got after the wife, and I'm about 30yds out in the desert taking a crap. I get through (not much traffic in these parts) and in a couple minutes a car goes by and wont stop, a few more minutes a pick up pulls over and helps me get the beast out. He laughs and tells me that he did the same thing when he first moved to the desert.  Moral of the story, Always park on the road in the desert where there is little traffic.  The pick up guy said locals were use to it. Made it to the next gas stop on fumes!

First week after getting the Valk I was making a rather sharp (more than 90 degree) turn into my driveway (gravel) at a speed I discovered was much higher than the Valk was willing to negotiate. I kicked myself off the bike and it laid down. No damage, but I was pretty shaken about it. Some kids ran down the street and helped me lift it.
I felt like a dumb@$$.
