Too balmy for green pepper plants?

I'd like the opinion of some garden experts and I'm sure we have em.
It was 105 in the shop when I left work today and 105 in the shade when I got home. Was 106 when I got home yesterday but it was dryer humidity wise and felt pretty good.
Today I found one of my Big Bertha bell pepper plants wilted to the ground and dead. It was 18" tall two days ago when I watered it. Will the high temps kill a pepper plant like that or is it something else? The rest of them look OK.

Sounds like a good place to grow Pablano or Anaheim chilis . . . for chili relleno.

I've been watering mine for an hour every other nite. Glad I'm on well as the local water has a ban on all extra use due to low towers. I've lost a few to rabbits eating the stem. Even a few stalks of corn too. Need a rain way past bad.

Heck, try planting 3 times my entire garden this year worst ever in 18 years of gardening at my house. Rabbits and bugs eating leaves off everything to bare bone, peas shot, green beans are a joke got about 10 beans to pick in three 20 foot rows look sickly, and the darn moles tunneling up the dirt all over worst I have ever seen it. I decided to almost give up on my garden this year and say the heck with it. WE haven't had any rain for over 3 weeks now and everyday 90+ degree temps and even watering every 3-4 days really good over 1 hour doesn't help much, only makes me look at my garden with huge disgust. I think I heard this past June is the dryest in history in our area with the least amount of rain also ever. This may surpass the dry intense heat of 1988 when I graduated high school and was one of the worst high temps/no rain I ever remembered. Our 2 pepper plants have 1 each pepper on them, WOW! NOT! and the pepper plants are so small the 2 peppers are about 1/2 the size of the pepper plants.
Maybe we got a bad batch of seeds to plant this year since bought all at same place, could be I guess since like said, had to plant most of everything 3 different times in May and early June. Never had issues with beans or peas or most of everything else coming up pretty good until this year. Will be using aged cow manure and a lot of it this fall when I rip up my near worthless garden. So depressed.
Only good thing is I haven't mowed yard in over 4 weeks and all grass is brown and don't foresee mowing for next month either since all of next week only VERY slight chance of showers (meaning hit or miss and not much if we even get any).
Just announced in area counties a burning ban meaning most fourth of july celebrations will also be cancelled if this keeps up although fireworks not a big fan of really.
P.S. - please check up on all the elderly living alone and stop by and/or give them a jingle on the phone to make sure they are o.k. and their A/C is working. I hate to see what July and August bring since June sure was hot and dry, one of the worst I can remember.

No, generally speaking, peppers thrive on hot weather. But they need lots of water

Thanks for the info guys. I haven't raised a garden in years but the economy kind of spooked me into it this year. I was worried that I had some kind of blight going that might kill the rest of my pepper plants but it's just been this one. I've probably been to chintzy with the water. I'm on well water but it's been so many weeks since we've had rain I worry about running it dry.
Thanks again,
Mike

Give you county extension agent office a call.
