Can I use an H4 55/100 watts bulb without doing any mods?  Time to buy a few spares.

You may have to put new wires on the headlight connector eventually and you cant use the high much otherwise you also take a chance of burning out the headlight hi lo switch.

Installing a pair of relays to hi-power the headlight is really easy.  In fact, the hardest part is pulling the tank so you can run a 12-ga wire along the frame, to provide power for the relays. (Be sure to fuse it) You put the relays in the headlight, connect the wires that used to go to the bulb, to the relay triggers, and run the relay outputs to the back of the bulb.  Ground the relays, and connect the power wire I mentioned first, and you're done.  Now your hi-lo sw will never fail, nether will the starter switch, and you can run a 130/90 headlight from Competition Accessories.  I have for 15 years now.  A 130 watt hi-beam lights up the road better than any expensive headlight solutions.
