Capping the intakes or capping the intake vacuum nipples?

if you talking about the 6 large pipes that go to the center of the engine, yes you can just cap them. i used some fuel injector line, a bolt with high temp gasket sealer. if the bike hasn't been desmoged, and it's a California bike, there should be a black canister under the bike. some people cut/remove/weld/ the large tubes. i prefer to leave them, save all the parts you take off. just in case the state/ new owner/ feds decide they want all that stuff on there. but it's your choice.

My recommendation,, if you are going to do it then do it right.. Look in the archives or shop talk and read Normands [ Quexpress] desmog article,, its the best one there is.. If you just cap those tubes,, eventually you'll end up blowing the ends off of them.. Thats not a pleasant experience..

So there is plenty wrong with capping the tubes.I already have the kit....I was just trying to dodge removing the crash bar......but I think I'd rather work on it at home. Thanks Pat......Harry

just take snips and cut the tube above the engine guard and it will pull out the bottom.

Bike decisions are always tough....whats right...whats wrong...did I make the right decision..sometimes its just an educated guess. So far I am happy with the shiney desmog...and the carb work too but I dont have positive proof yet thats its right. When I do I will be happy to pass along the results and any help I can thats based on my experience. Many people here have steered me in what I believe is the right direction. Patrick is one on them. So, make your decision, go with it and dont try to second guess yourself. Remember, whatever gets screwed up can be unscrewed with a little help...

There have been a few things in life and women I would have liked to 'unscrewed' ..
