I asked this question in another thread but didn't get an answer......

I bought some Interstate shocks from a wrecker on Ebay. However when they arrived, they look the same and have the same Showa MZ0-A41 sticker on them as the shocks on my standard.

Have I been duped or is there some way to tell the difference that I don't know of.

Thanks,

Mark

I just bought a set as well.  The sticker says MBY-671.

Hopefully you bought them from some one who is reliable.
There is no marking that Im aware of.
But the spring rates are very different between the 2.
On my standard I had the shock set on 4.
With the IS shock 1 is more then enough.

Fourtunatly I got the propper shocks.
Very interesting about those parts letters.
Is that true of all parts??
Or just the shocks.
The only outward difference I noted was a red vs orange colored Showa label on mine.
I assumed that the label had faded.

any I/S specific part will be designated by the:  MBY shocks, fairing, gastank seat, saddlebags, etc,

even the saddlebags for the tourer are different. hence the: mzo

Well I have some good news!

The wrecker has agreed to take the shocks back and refund their price.

Bad news, I will have to pay shipping.

Chalk that one up to experience. Now, who here has a nice set of MBY Interstate Shocks they can sell me?

Thanks,

Mark

why should u have to pay return shipping if the wrecker advertised them incorrectly? u shouldn't have to pay anything.

Once you get your refund, call your credit card company and explain the details of this transaction and request a refund on the shipping and any other charges out-of-pocket.  Make sure you have a delivery confirmation of the return shipping so there is no dispute whether they received the item, save any e-mail correspondence and phone records.  You will most likely get your charges reversed.  Put the original ad and the part number details for the different shocks) on the claim form along with any other documentation.  I know, it's a bit of a hassle but it's your money and time.

I just went through this with Roush over a cold air unit that they wanted $51 fee for re-stocking an unopened box that was the wrong part...my credit card company put them in the "right" place regarding customer service.

Ebay advertises that return shiping is covered by their rotection plan

"More about refunds

If you're given a refund, you'll usually receive it through the same payment method that you used to pay for the item. If you bought an item with a payment method other than PayPal, we'll ask you to confirm receipt of the refund.

A full refund is one that covers the cost of the item and original shipping. If you've received an item and want a full refund, you'll usually need to send the item back to the seller. "
