Seems like crap to me. I'd think a privately owned business could give anyone it wants a discount. Now, if the business was taking government money somehow that might open up the door but otherwise, I just don't see it.

The deception with tact, just what are you trying to say? You've got a blank face, which irritates Communicate, pull out your party piece You see dimensions in two State your case with black or white But when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth You run for cover so discreet, why don't they:
Do what they say, say what you mean One thing leads to another You told me something wrong, I know I listen too long But then one thing leads to another.

Right or wrong, the term "privately owned business" doesn't always mean the owner can do whatever they want...going back to the segregated lunch counters and such from the 60's. Personally, I could see it either way. On one hand, I guess as long as they don't favor any one religion over any other, they might be ok. But if they said only bullitens from the local Baptist (or whatever) Church qualify, then they likely have a problem. What if I belong to a small non-denominational church group that met at someone's house...a neighbor of mine that did this for a few years after our church went through a major transition and a bunch of people left. Could they bring a paper from there? Do other religions like Jews and Muslims have church bullitens? Are they accepted? If an athiest prints up a fake bulliten for their "religion", would they accept it? On the other hand, if you exchange the word religion with race...which is likely the root of the PA law against discrimination...I could see where the complaint has merit. But in this case, it kind of looks like someone was looking for something to complain about.

I see senior discounts all the time. Is not that age discrimination against young people? How about women at bars getting discounts, isn't that sex discrimination? How about discounts on little children? Again, age discrimintation.
I think they should leave well enough alone.
I do agree, it needs to apply to ALL church goers, but I do not see where it does not.

Asking somebody to bring a church bulletin to get a discount is not religious discrimination. Anybody can attend a church and get a bulletin, or ask a friend for one etc...they don't have to be religious.
To top it all off, the dickhead filing the complaint hasn't even been to the restaurant. He found it on their website.

Yep... the disckhead appears to be from the FFRF (Freedom From Religion Foundation). I'd have to take away his Sr Citizen discount as well.... make a policy that dickheads have to pay double.

Seriously, the idiot who filed the complaint needs to get a life. Life is not always fair and the government cannot legislate fairness especially since they don't know the meaning of it. With all the problems in the U.S. today, I can think of a million more important things to be concerned about than who gets a discount at a mom/pop diner.

hef, you are wrong my friend. this governing body thinks it can legislate fairness and is trying its best to do so. and the sad part is that a large part of society agrees with them.

If I had a friend who had a bulliten but didn't feel like Cajun that day and gave me that bulliten, and I ,who didn't attend church that day, used it for the discount it provided, could I be charged with fraud????

I don't even see why it would have to apply to all religions equally. I would think that if I owned a business and I didn't receive financial help from the government, as in minority owned tax breaks or the like then I could give anyone I wanted a discount or even a free meal.
What if I owned a gun shop and gave NRA members, VRCC members, ACLU members and anyone with red hair and three thumbs a better price? If I owned the business, wouldn't that be my business?
