But it's too hot to ride home from work tomorrow. I'm gonna drive the van........it's got great A/C !!!
It was only 104 today........but seems a lot worse than the past few days. Maybe it's the humidity.

Ride Safe !!!

102 today hottest on record here for last 4-5 days also.

I guess I need to buy a kickstand plate or make one up with a piece of metal, etc.

I went to dentist at 10:30 this morning, got out at 11:30, and saw my bike from a distance leaning over A TON.  The asphalt sunk in and my kickstand was 4" into the asphalt in ONLY 1 hour.  Never had that happen more than like 1/2" and it was on almost level ground, could not believe it.  Must've been soft asphalt don't you think even if it was over 100 out, or not?

I drove cycle at 2:30 to work and thought I was going to die hard to breath.  Luckily it was only a 20 minute ride and all hwy. otherwise it would've been tough to go 1 hour without kicking the bucket??

It was 99 here yesterday.

The HVAC at the converted warehouse I work at can't keep up.

It is hard to hack Linux kernel modules when you are sweating.

Weather sez next week will be in the 80s and there will be rain  cooldude

We are headed for 106 again today.  FREAK"N HOT!!!  We have been over 100 for over a week now.  SUCKS!!!!  After my 30 mile ride home from work, I feel like I am well done!!!  But...a dude has got to ride!  Cheesy  Thanks to my Drink Butler, I can stay hydrated on my ride home.  Next week is supposed to be MUCH colder...in the high 80s/low 90s.  Hope it feels cooler...

Alph...yeah...it has been VERY dry here in STL.  We had rain last week but it poofed into steam on contact with the ground.  Not a good thing anytime but especially around the 4th of July.  We have had a lot of brush fires around town due to unresponsible fireworks usage and folks disposing of their butts improperly.  Luckly, they have been put out fairly quickly and haven't caused too much damage.  But it is only time...

I am desperatly needing a ride, seeing that last week we had the storm blow through the house and relocate most of the things in the yard to include a few trees, no ride, this weekend the temps are in the 102 + range, so I doubt I will go out, only to look like the old dehydrated beef patty out of an MRE package afterwards. uglystupid2 SUCKS! tickedoff

I rode to work Mon and Tues and it was just miserable.  It was even hot in the morning on the way in.  But on the other hand, my Jeep Cherokee's AC didn't work anyways so Jeep or Valk...either way I was gonna be sweating.  Yesterday was in the mid 90's and they are calling for 99 here today with a heat index of about 105 or so.  I recharged the AC in my Cherokee Wednesday, so I'm good to go.  Nice and cold!

104 today here.

I am testing the wet-vest.  I think it helps a lot.

15 miles home for me.  Just enough to test it out.

The temps you guys are talking about are normal here in AZ. We go above 110 frequently. For some reason our asphalt doesn't melt and the kickstands don't sink in. Don't know why but I never worry about the kickstand.

Y'all probably have stuff built to withstand your "normal"...

In South Carolina, our frost line is at about 1 inch. If we want to build someplace where "undisturbed soil"
is only 1 inch down, we can stop digging and start pouring foundation concrete. If someone up North
tried to put their footers only 1 inch deep, their building would frost-heave the first winter...

Sandy makes a point. Great guy by the way. I never really paid attention, but the Mighty Valk dosent sink here. I frequent some places that have cement motorcycle parking. The road temps here get to 200 degrees in the afternoon. I keep an oven thermometer in the car and its 160 when I go out at the end-o-day aroung 3:30.

Heat has been tough here too.  I just added a set of Air Wings that were supposed to help push the engine heat out the back, but I can't tell if they make it better or worse.

The difference is... ours comes with humidity.

although it's been dry dry dry, and the humidity isn't that bad right now.  Only 35%.  Which is still humid by AZ standards I think.  ???

I remember back in the day... 100F and 75%-80% RH.  dew point near 80.  That's a JUNGLE.

I think it's hot all over record breaking temps. We have broke several records here. It was 107 here Sunday and the heat index around 118! We were at a funeral in Easley and 3 bikers had to be taken to the hospital because of the heat and I almost was a victim!  Shocked Shocked . Maybe the northwest is cool?

I was planning to head up north to escape the heat but see Florida is actually cooler!! 88 in daytona!  2funny

Sandy, I've been to CA and AZ and 100* there is nothing bc of the low/no humidity, but here is SC and the southeast it is miserable!  Cry

It hasn't stopped raining in England since April. Really.  Cry
We have flood warnings everywhere, the summer tourist trade has been destroyed and thousands of acres of farmland turned into swamp. My brother in law is in Scotland where they are expecting a month's rainfall in the next 48 hours.

It was 102 I believe on July 4th at my house. My Grand Prix is getting tranny work done, so I drove the rig home. I drop the trailer about 1 mile from my house in an old Heilig Meyers parking lot. Trailer was loaded with 45,000 lbs. Dropped it at 10:30am and went to pick it back up at 9pm.  The landing gear feet had sunk 2 inches into the parking lot. Guess it's blacktop, but it's really old and grey now.

Glad I can drop the suspension on my tractor or I'd of had alot of fun getting back under the trailer.

We can relate here in Calgary too!  It's 21ºC (70ºF) here right now, and it's supposed to get up to a sweltering 31ºC (88ºF) by Monday!  I might have to dig my mesh jacket out of the basement closet soon.  laugh

It's hot.

Was way over 100 today in the shop when I left work. I spent the last few hours in back of a large industrial washer installing new "retrofit proximity switches and targets for them". Six feet off the floor in a plant well over 100 degrees squatting inside a big hot machine with live steam blowing up into the air around me. Work feels like some kind of crazy cartoon sometimes when it's like this.

The front of me almost dried out on the ride home. The thermometer on the valk dropped from 120 to just over 110 once I got moving. This was the first time I've ever experienced the grips being almost too hot to touch when I headed home from work. The first few minutes of the ride were painful because of it. Was 110 in the shade when I got home.

After a nap and a shower I rode back to Terre Haute to meet a buddy for steaks and cold drinks, then passed on by home and rode North on 59 to Mansfield and put the hammer down a little before finally turning for home at deer thirty. It is indeed screaming hot. If you're moving not to bad, stop for a light and you're immediately soaked.

The cool thing about working in this kind of heat is I can drink a bottle of water and a bottle of dew before starting work. Continually drink water and dew while I'm working and still go all day without having to pee. Convenient.  cooldude

If I could not park in the shade in this weather, I'd use my half cover to keep the bike cooler.  Much easier on/off than full cover, and no metal hardware.

That's not a bad idea. I may have to buy one eventually.

I leave my "work helmet" on the passenger backrest to keep the red thread in the design from fading to pink again. My HD buds were calling my valk the "pink dragon" before I replaced that backrest.  Grin

It's silver and reflects heat nicely, packs tight the size of a large softball, drys really quickly, and is great for road trips.  Not fully waterproof, but most rain runs off, and keeps all electricals from direct downpour.
