I just got off the phone with Tom at Quackenbush to order my quart of beads.  Also ordered the Falken Ziex 512 from Discount Tire Direct.  Hopefully everything will get here by next weekend and I can mount everything without a problem.  I noticed my drive dampers were a little loose while servicing the rear drive last weekend, so I may go ahead and order a set of those and a new thrust washer to swap all that out while it's apart again.

The Avon on there now has a couple thousand miles and is really cupped bad.  When I got the bike, air pressure in it was down around 30-35 psi.

I had a GYTT on my VTX 1300S a few years ago, but the price on that tire has gone way up.  The Falken seemed to be a popular tire, with a nice tread and profile, so I'll give it a shot.   cooldude

The reviews are poor - for cars.  I like what I see there and here.  I would prefer a softer tire that might wear out a little quicker than one that's hard as a rock.  If I get 20k out of it, I'm still ahead of the game at $81 a pop.  Plus, I liked the grip I had on my VTX with the CT.  I was never able to break it lose, even in the rain.  I can't say the same for any m/c tire I have ever had.

I have that same tire, and I am very happy with it. For around town i wish i had a mt back on, but for anything else, i have been more than happy.  I have half the miles on it now i got out of my last mt, and it still looks new.

Just dont forget to take it apart every 10k and lube it up again, and you should be golden.

Yea, I thought about it after posting, duh.  Roll Eyes

I just order one also. twice the mileage at half the price was just too good to pass up. Besides, at $81, I won't have to put too many mile on it to break even.

Now what's a good source for Dyna-beads and how many do you put in a CT?

Thanks

http://www.quackco.com/qbzirc.htm  Smallest order quantity is 1 quart.  Get the .8mm.  I use 4oz in a DS.

I'd go with Ride-On except that it's not compatible with my TPMS.

I'll overlook the gawd awful web site that almost made me puke for now. Can you not order on line? I looked until my eyes could stand no more and could find no way to order.

Check Dyna Beads site.
Then the dealers.
I called around in my area till I found a shop that had some in stock.
4oz is good for most car tires....

You have to call to order. If you plan on doing a lot of tires, it's a great deal. 5 pounds for around $70 shipped. If you only plan on doing a set or two, Dynabeads might be your cheapest option. You can get 5-6 ounces for less than $20.

The beads, either buy and share with fellow riders, or find someone local who already has some, and buy what you need from them.

I used a kicthen electronic scale to weight out the 2 & 3 oz required for a MC. The recommended amount for a stock or CT on the rear of the Valk is 3 oz.

I just replaced the front tire on my ACE T, and applied the recommended 2 oz of beads. Mileage will tell. I put almost 23K KM on the tire myself.

My Falken was just delivered, can't wait to get home!  The beads are supposed to be delivered tomorrow and I'll be mounting the tire this weekend!

Tire is on.  Bead actually seemed to seat easier than the last set of m/c tires I mounted.  Now I have to stop and clean up all of the tire mounting stuff before my wife gets home, I pretty much took over the entire carport.  Tire is completely deflated and I haven't tightened anything up yet.

Drove through my first real rain storm today. Tire performed flawlessly, which is more than I can say for the windshield. That thing is just about useless in the rain. Anyway, this is why I like my car tire. This pic was after driving it under the carport.  Can you tell which one has a better contact patch?

Windshields are useless during the rain except for keeping the rain from hitting you.  I cut mine down till it was chin level so I could see over it in the rain and allow more air to get to the cooling vents on my helmet.

Mine didn't even do that, no matter what speed.  The only thing it accomplished was keeping the wind from hitting me and keeping the face shield cleared off. Of course, it is a "wind" shield.  I'm thinking about getting a shorter one from Clearview, but haven't decided what height to get.

Now I've hijacked my own thread. Grin
