While ridin' home from work today looking at Indiana's withering crops, brown yards and trees starting to turn brown I realized we're about 60 more days of drought from becoming the "great Midwest desert".

Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Only 16,000 years ago this area was covered by a glacier. Seems kinda hard to believe today.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I was riding to work and noticed how small the corn was in height. Its the size of sweet corn. Its already tassled here. Looked really neat tho this morning. Golden tops in this humid foggy morning.
I had on a long sleave to ride to work and was sweating bullets while getting the bike ready. It was 91 in the garage. Wore the sleavless to work and was just right.

Most of the corn is that way here too. Here it looks like the tassels are forming early, as in before the silks are ready to accept the pollen from the tassels. I don't know a lot about field corn, but I know in garden corn that means little or no harvest.

Being covered by glaciers 16,000 years ago? That's not global warming, that's Bush's fault.  Grin

Take a line from Merced, CA to the coast.

Take another line from Bakersfield, CA to the coast.

Anywhere inbetween those 2 lines that isn't irrigated is brown and as dry as an old dessicated bone.

.30 of one inch all of June and no rain expected next 7 days is not looking good here either.  At least it will be starting tomorrow mid 80's vs. high 90's like 9-10 days straight -yeck!

Was in neighboring Terre Haute a few hours ago. Looked like they had just had a huge rain, water standing everywhere. There were also trees down and at least one road blocked and an ambulance in attendance. Hope no one was hurt badly. Still no rain here just 15 miles East.
