For those that have thought about it:

I finally got my chrome wheels from Chrome Pros Plating out of Corpus Christi, Tx. There's a long wait list as they struggle to get suitable cores and then have to wait for each customer to strip the cores down to be returned. They've recently begun to speed things up by offering to put in new bearings and strip the old ones out of your cores for a seemingly reasonable price. This is the second set I've gotten from them as I am very pleased with the first. I have to say though that this set isn't quite up to the high standards that I got with the first set. Small imperfections can be found. I used some polish to get rid of most of it and overall I'm happy. If you've considered going this way I thought that some pictures might help. I don't have any affiliation with this company other than I'm their happy customer.

As received, out of the box, but in their packaging.

The bearings are NTN, made in Japan. The red is masking for where they didn't want plating. It just peels off. Thank goodness they didn't forget the collars between the bearings!

Look'n good and just in time for Inzane!

Wow, they look nice.  cooldude

I had them do a Harley Deuce wheel and pulley for me about 7-8 years ago, they did nice work then too.

Are you ready? Are you sure? Wheels + shipping both ways + bearings = $984.

Wheels $750
Shipping $135 They include a prepaid shipping label for the return
Bearings $99 Includes stripping out old bearings from cores
Core charge of $300 that is refunded when they get their cores back

Not too long ago they charged only $600 + $75 shipping and didn't offer the bearings at all.
I liked it better then.

I just had a set done too.  I did not do the bearing option.  I was lucky and had a job assignment in Corpus Christi so I was able to avoid the shipping charges.

Additionally, I left them a triple tree to chrome for me.  Looking forward to getting that back!

I've thought about the CHROME option for the wheels.

I really like the look but the $$$ usually change my mind.

Lately I've been thinking about having my wheels powder coated.

I'm not sure about the difference in look and cost, but ti seems that it would be a lot cheaper to do.

I love the look, but the cost is something i can not swing. I have been looking at chets page and he polished his wheels then had them powered clear to keep the polish job good forever.

Been thinking about contacting a couple places in town to see if they can polish clear, if so, i will go that direction with mine.

Sounds like a good winter project.

1st problem: The new chrome front wheel is from a '97 and they're going on a '99 I/S. This means that it has the smaller bearings and therefore needs the smaller diameter dust seal on the right side. I hope I can find one locally as it's only a $5 part. Since there are a few differences between wheels, rotors, bearings and seals over the years there are going to be mix-and-match issues unless you send in your own cores for chroming. Now that does sound like a good winter project.

I hope the rear doesn't bite me. It's not like they send you rotors for the correct year chrome wheel that they send you. If things rub I'll be shimming.
