Vietnam was a war that only the politicians wanted IMO.  It was also probably the first war that was covered by TV extensively.  Whenever, the media is involved, the military doing a dirty job, are  labeled as arseholes..  The bitter Vietnam war is reflected in the Zippo lighter engravings.   I'm glad that  I served only  in the Korean War .  While we didn't have the country behind us almost 100% as in WWII,  at least we only came home only to indifference, not Crap like Hanoi Jane was dishing out.

Here's a pic of my Zippo just for comparison.  I still have it and won't part with it.

One of my riden buddies, carries his dad's old zippo from Korea. His dad engraved all the places he had been while in the service. The names take up both sides of the lighter.

I lost my Korean Zippo somewhere in all my moves I had to make.   It got left somewhere.

It also had all the places I was stationed & the hills we took in Korea.

It had a needle in the loops to hold the lid on.   Stuck it threw and turned it back toward the needle head, snipped off the point and it was good to go for another 3 years.    Got to the states and Zippo repaired it for the postage to and back to me.      Really appreciated them stepping up to the plate on that deal.      Just out of curiosity, I sent it to them asking about fixing it, originally they offered  to replace it and I declined that offer.     They said they wanted to add it to their collection.

Same as you R J somewhere amongst all the moves my Nam Zippo found a new home without me.  crazy2 Had all my squadrons ships shore stations and a few of my favorite watering holes listed on it.  Wink Zippo also made the same offer and i declined it also.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.
