In Greensburg, PA. at Z & M Cycle. Mileage is only 10k or so for $8695!  I would have bought  if it was my favorite color.  Sad But one of these days it'll come along...I hope!  laugh

Anyway a great deal IMO.  Wink

2001 reverse red/black

Looks good, but at that price I would say it is just a decent deal, not real sweet.  $7000 would be sweet!

Yes it is red and black. Yes $7k would be. Great but ppl are asking $8k and up for  35-80 k miles which is stupid. Believe me I have been looking for 2 years almost every day. If it had been my favorite color I woulda flew up and bought it if he came off the price a little.  cooldude

Dang it....  You are scanning my area....lol.    I saw it and the black one yesterday.....neither are in the showroom, but in the back room with MANY bikes.  I was with the owner and 2 other riders.  Actually we happened upon them by accident.  Was looking at a 79 Kaw KZ1000 they had for sale but wasn't running... Plugs fouled.... And we went to the back room to find the stock pipes to check out while the Mechs were getting the bike running.   Had a hundred bikes back there..at least it seemed and I was amazed.  Spotted the Valkyrie and we got side tracked.  The black one had a rough life with 51k miles.  Reverse red/black with 10k miles is nice, but in need of some TLC.... Finish is not smooth and might even be faded in spots. I talked with the owner again today to see if there was some negotiation room...but was being stalled.  He wil call me after it gets serviced so he can see what he has in it.

Oh! The KZ1000 is a mover... Runs nice but noticed it had head work, and both fork seals are leaking.  Still considering another antique... But would rather redirect funds to another Valkyrie I think.

On a much sadder notes, there was a black 99 IS that had lots of chrome and goodies on it at another dealership.... Initially at 10k and up, then when i was told it was at 8500 or better I went to check inti it... And before I could talk with Mgr.... It was Wholesaled for....... 6800... Damn damn I kicked myself in the arse and gave the Mgr my name/number.

Been seeing lots for sale, not many selling at asking prices..... Some are beat and rough.

Yes I've been scanning your area  and 47 more states in search of a DEALGrin and it would have to be one before I went to the expense of bringing her home! I knew the black one had too many miles for me.  I am suprised the red & black one was faded and needed TLC at that price and the ad  even said not to try to talk them down at that price!!  Shocked

That makes me sick about that beauty that went for $6800!!! Angry  Cry Cry  I've never seen  one with so much chrome and bling on it with only 10k miles!!!!!! Yep if there was a barf emoticon i would use it!!  Grin  As soon as i seen the ad that just came out it was gone!  tickedoff

Like you the ones I've seen, beat up or not, ppl are getting stupid with their prices and need to come down to earth if they really want to sell it. I mean 50- 100,000 miles and they're wanting $8-9k!!???  Roll Eyes I have even ppl asking $12,000 with 25-40k for a plain jane! Nope, this ole boy would buy a new one before paying that kind of money! 5-$7000.00 would tops! Good luck on the Valk or Kaw!  cooldude

My first street bike was a '77 KZ1000.  It had a Stage 3 Dynojet Kit and Kerker pipe on it.  It was pretty reliable except that it ate batteries...it needed a new rectifier or something and overcharged them cooking the water out.  But it sounded great and only got about 27mpg.  It would RUN!!!  Then I bought a '94 Suzuki RF900RR sport bike and found out was FAST really was.  WOOOHOOO!!!

I have a friend with a KZ1000 who might sell it. He has had it about 7 yrs. He bought it from my neighbor, and was planning to restore it. He rebuilt the carbs himself, but didn't get them to work right. He had such a hard time getting them off & on he just parked it and hasn't touched it in a long time. The last time I asked him about it he said he would like to sell it. If someone here is interested just PM me and I can give you his info.

Well is that a good or bad thing? I think that was the stupidest thing honda has ever done! They discontinued the Valkyrie after 6 years and the VTX after 6 years- two of the best cruisers ever made and now have a little 1300 Stateline Interstate! They depend on selling wings and sportbikes. If they don't change their tactics I bet they go under, lot of good competition out there.

They don't make VTXs anymore either, I fail to see your point.

I'm just sayin, you can't just take and go out and buy one, any clolor, any options, or any day you want, or call every dealer and see how bad they want one of their inventory. So price is fixed where someone is willing to sell and what someone is willing to pay. For that matter the actual best motorcycle everbuilt, the sohc cb750 four (IMHO) was only produced for 7 years and one in the average condition of most Valks in this club will easily fetch 3 or 4 times the selling price of when new (about what an average Tourer sells for now), and more. Have you seen what a '69 sandcast is selling/asking? $20,000 + in some cases. Saw a stuck sandcast engine on evil-bay 2 yrs ago with time left and bidding north of $5k. I believe one day the Valk will be a true classic, the nice examples and parts will go up, sorry don't thinks so on the VTX. I can't make myself drool over any V2.

Actually it's not so much the dealer but the individual. Yes I'm well aware I can't go out and get everything I want in a Valkyrie. But if the 01 I mentioned had come down on the price I could afford to paint it with that kind of mileage. Yeah I had forgot about the old CB 750-4. I had an 1975 that was bullet proof!

I hope Valks become collectors items and one day I'll get my I/S, but in the meantime I sure LOVE my Standard! As far as the VTX I doubt if they will become a classic, but the 1800 might and if not, she sure puts a big smile on my face when I twist the wick!!  Smiley

When you talk about not liking a V Twin, when the day comes when the Valk goes by the wayside, the only new 6 cylinders are limited to a GW and BMW that I know of.  Smiley

You may be right, but how many Goldwings and Honda sport bikes do you see....A LOT!! no chance they will go under. If I didn't have my I/S, I would be sitting on a 'Wing!  cooldude Honda knows how to sell what sells.

Well it is good that you like a wing, not everybody does. My point was honda doesn't have much of  selection of cruisers or tourers except GW and the ST1300 sport tourer. Compare honda to yamaha, kawasaki and so on. I love the IS because it is hondas answer to harleys ultra classic. Yamaha has the Royal Venture which has been around almost as long as GW and  Kawa, the Vaquero, a Johnny come latey. And of course there's the Victory Cross Country and Vision. I just love all the chrome and has hardbags and trunk with all the goodies. Smiley

Probably in this country a lot of cub 50's and cb750's, but I'm talking worldwide. Actually the ct90 (and it's eventual 110cc evolvement) was still produced well beyond the year 2000, not sure when finally ended. Made between 40-50 yrs. Not imported to U.S. (thanks e.p.a.) since 1987 or there abouts. It was the official mail carrier for the Austrailian rural Postal Service at least recently. They go by "Posties" over there. Used to buy tires on ebay $60 a pair marked "Austrailia Postal Service"
Hey I'll throw in a CSA (got one of them too cooldude) shirt if you send M.O. today. Might fill it up too, gets about 100 mpg. if you keep it under 55 (top speed, tailwind) Wink
