not true 11 july 1789, there had been no Marines for years prior to this date.
April, 1783 -- Treaty of Paris; Marine Corps disbands shortly after treaty signed. Formal re-establishment of Marine Corps doesn't occur until 11 July, 1798.

Tank is historically correct, but we traditionally celebrate the anniversary of the creation of the Continental Marines on 10 November 1775.
