Looks to me like these bags come with there own bolts which will make it impossible to reverse them or replace them with carriage bolts.

These are all one piece except for the black spacer. Even after removing the nut cage I'll have to shorten the bolt as it sticks out a good bit from the square nut.

How best to proceed?

The connector for the brake light will surely rub on the CT. If You look close you can see where it was rubbing slightly on the MT.

Do I need to reroute the harness or will it be OK as is?

Please pardon my ignorance. I looked but could not find a nut cage mod guide. Lots of opinions and lots of ways to do this but I'm not sure which ways are the best. I'd hate to have to pull it all apart again. Sad

This may help a little:

I don't know what to say about the connector. Surely someone else will.

Oh, and as to the Leatherlyke bolt. I'd mark it, thread on a nut, cut it off, dress the tip on a grinder or with a file (I like to bevel the end) , and then remove the nut. The nut makes sure that the threads are straight.

You wiring harness connector is not in the right spot.

It's supposed to nest in the two metal flaps above it in your picture. You have to have the rear fender segment free to insert it in there. It won't rub there.

On the leatherlyke bolts...I just ditched the square nut, cut the nut cage, and went with a self locking nut. Checked my clearance and was fine, but I could have shortened the bolt as needed.

Thank you Daniel. One look up under there and I knew exactly what you were saying. the plug is now in it's proper place and I can proceed to the next step, removing the nut cages themselves.
