I have a fuel shutoff valve with a pingle petcock. I want to put an inline filter in as well but dont have room in the line length. Can anyone tell me or have pics of how this is done. I thought of running the line under the chrome bar that is the carb rack but i think that might pinch the fuel line. THANKS

Remember this is a gravity feed system. Any up angles in the fuel line will interfere with this which is why increases in fuel line length is not a good idea.

groundpounder , I have a Golan petcock and inline filter , and a Dan Marc electric shut off . I eliminated the stock fuel line tee , got three way block and 3 barbed connectors . I cut the connectors back 2 barbs , bought flexible fuel line , made the two lines to the carb banks a little longer so the tee could move forward a bit . Everything fit just fine . I got everything I needed from Golan , Dan Marcand West Marine . Good luck , Pocobubba

Wrong. Up angles don't matter. The whole system is under the tank and there's a "head" of pressure pushing the fuel through. Fuel line length also doesn't matter at all. Think about it. Blaze - your install looks very similar to mine. Good job. (Patting my own back too...)

Btw, how smart is it to install a filter so you have to remove the tank and air box to change it? Marty

Any sags in the gas line will trap air at the high spots. This will create a restriction that may cause starvation at high speeds. I agree that the gas line should run up to the petcock without looking like a rolling coaster. My in line filter is close to the pingel directly between the rear coils. Removal of the air box is not needed to change the filter. Tank removal is quick using the hose clamps that come with the thumb tabs.

I can change mine with only fuel tank removed. And really, how often will it need changed anyway?

Explain how you can change it when one of the clamps is under the airbox with the screw head pointing up. Marty

I too am using the Wix filter with the spring clamps. I like the idea of one that unscrews but then again like the man stated, how often are you changing these?

The nipples for the Pingel and the filter almost touch, if that helps. The filter is about a couple inches long so I can get to the spring clamps with 90* long handle needle nose pliers.

Both of my Valks are desmogged. My Tourer has a belly tank so no need for a Dan Marc. My I/S has a stock fuel system except for the Pingel and fuel filter. I try to remember to turn off the petcock every time but sometimes I don't. Even so, every time I start, I tap the start button a couple of times to make sure I don't have hydrolock. I'm planning to install a belly tank on it also. Until I do, I'm probably going to install a Dan Marc. $25 for the Dan Marc vs $400 for the belly tank vs $1K+ for hydrolock repair.
