I have a 2002 Valkaire Tourer. I have been wanting some Honda hard bags ans trunk but I'm too cheap to spend $2000 bucks for them. Question I have is I found a 1982 Goldwing hardbags and trunk. they are in real good shape. Talk to my paint shop and they said about $400 to $500 bucks to paint them. My questions is will they mount on my Valkaire without having to do a whole bunch of mods.

I know there's been a few that have posted before about putting them on their bikes before.....but I don't know the details of how they mounted them.  However, you can mod most anything to fit.

You know - it might be a standard - I bought it used through a Honda dealer - the paperwork I have shows it to be a Tourer. It does not have bags or a trunk. I does have the factory windshield - but that's it.

If I can figure out how to insert a picture in theis post I'll do it. I'm going to check the vin number with Honda to see exactly what it is.

Thanks

Standards have a reflector (like the one on the radiator side cover) on the side of the rear fender...

Tourers have a reflector on the saddlebag...

just look at the vin on the neck does it end with a:  c=standard ct = tourer

c= someone added a windshield

ct= someone removed the saddlebags to sell separate or the bike was wrecked at one time and they just removed the remains rather than replace them.

I wish I could give you some guidance on this, but I'm in the early stages of thinking about the same thing: adding Goldwing saddlebags (or possibly Bates bags) to my 2003 Valkyrie. I have a line on some of these bags that I could get cheaply, but I still haven't determined how I would mount them on the Valk, or more importantly, whether they would look good/fit decently on the Valk.

Here is one very helpful web page about mounting Bates bags on a Valk. I found this while searching our forums here (hope the owner doesn't mind me posting his link):

 https://bikerpics.wordpress.com/2011/05/24/my-bagger-project/

If you make any progress on planning or actually doing this project, I hope you'll post about it. I'll be interested to see it. I'll do the same if I make any progress.

Good luck,
rr

Mounting my aftermarket bags was fairly simple with "easy brackets" http://www.easybrackets.com/
You might look at the site for ideas or even try the product.

Johnnie B, I have a 1983 Goldwing trunk which I want to sell. I bought it and had it restored and painted and it is in truly great shape. It is gloss black. I intended to use it on my 2000 Standard, but my plans have changed and I am trying to sell it on EBay. I have over $500 in it and would sell it for $375 plus shipping. Shoot me an Email if interested garryh3@juno.com. I can send pictures.
