Time to replace the rear with another MC tire.  This is the current E3 with a hair over 20k miles. Didn't love it, didn't hate it and I got good mileage from it.  Please let me know if from the photo you see odd wear.

What is the current consensus on good MC tires to run now?  I am running E3 up front as well with loads of life left.

Its good to know that you got great mileage from your Dunlop E3's.  I just put a set on my Tourer last week.....never have had Dunlops before but decided to give them a try.  The Metzeler 880's I had on before were great as far as grip but lasted around 8600 miles.  So I thought I'd try out the E3's and put them on right before Inzane.

Amazing. there are still people getting good mileage out of those. I replaced my E3 rear at 5K due to cupping and uneven wear. The front has about 10k on it and is being replaced next week.

Personally, im going to run Shinko, a person can buy a pair of shinkos for just over what 1 E3 Rear costs.

That tire looks like it did its job........great wear, cant see any cupping and hardly much of a flat spot.

Mine look almost the same after 20K.....I dont take mine down quite that far...as soon as a wear bar is touched it goes......still get 20-23K every time

What pressures are you guys running? I have the E3's running 36 in the front and 43 in the rear.By the way I ride a 97 standard mostly one up. The front is showing left side wear.

My E3 looked like that after 7k.  Front has about 11k and will need to be replaced soon.  I mounted an Avon Cobra that has about 4k and still looking good.  I run 44 rear and 42 front.  I also replaced my shock bushings when I installed it.  Maybe that will help with mileage.  Sure handles better.
I'm liking the Cobra so far.

My son and I run E3s on the Valkyrie and Goldwing and are very happy with them, especially in the rain. My last set got over 18k miles. I have used Ride-On in my last set, and also put it in the new tires on the Valk. I run 40 in front and 42 in back.

I ran right around 37F and 39R.  All of it one up with a solid mix of interstate, city and mountain roads.

Thx for all the feedback, time to go find a tire.

The low pressures are why the rear wears funny. Im running 38F in a D404/44R  in an E3

What do you consider low?  I run above the Honda recommended but below many people here and get very good wear/mileage.  I say your typical road conditions and weight have as much to do with wear as a couple lbs of pressure.

I run 40f and 44r in my E3"s, I think your tire wear looks pretty normal and 20k is good service for an E3. Around my house they just covered all our nice asphalt with stone and chip, saving money I assume but boy is it hard on tires. While at the wing-ding I had a centra-matic balencer put on the front amazing device that smoothes out any tire it can fit on, in my opinion...

I couldn't get more than 10K out of rear E3's and just over 12K out of E3 fronts.  Ran 40/41 frnt, 43 rear.  About half the milage on those tires were two up.  Between my wife and I were not over loaded when compared to the load limits honda suggest.  Nor do I ride that aggressive.

I believe that the road surface plays a major part of miles of our tires.   I agree the rock/oil re-surface of rock/oil used around here eats up the MC tires.  Presently I am DS on the rear (HydroEdge) with 20K (maybe another 10K left).  Just put a D 404 front tire on to see what kind of mileage I can get out of it.   I do believe I am getting better handling with the belted 404 as compared to the E3.

For the Valk, Dunlop recommends max tire pressure on the E3's at 36 front, 40 rear.  I called them to confirm this was not a mistake and the tech stated that Dunlop does extensive testing on each of their tires and the results of their tests for optimum wear, handling, and tread life for the Valk is 36 front, 40 rear.  Looks like flatsixrider is almost at those psi's.....which explains why he's getting the high mileage from his E3's.  Pretty hard to beat his results.  For anyone wanting to check Dunlop's website showing their Valk psi recommendations, here it is:  http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/fitment-guide/search?type=fitment&make=12&model=453&year=522&submit=

That's what I was running in my E3's that produced 7k miles.  I've since bumped the pressure up.  Like mentioned, road conditions and riding habits dictate longevity.  IMHO.

I "bumped" the pressure up on my previous tires, Metzelers.  Had them up to 41 front, 42 rear continuously and they barely produced 8600 miles.  So I'll see how these E3's do at Dunlop's recommended pressures.

I run 42 front and 45 rear in my E3's.  Seems to wear good to me.

Are you still running the Centra-Matic balancers? What do you think about them?
I'm going to put these on my IS when install new tires.

I had E3s on the 99 IS when I bought her, got 20K miles plus so great mileage. I didn't like the cupping and wobble from the front, so went CT on the back and a D404 bias rear on the front with Dynabeads, 40# front 42# rear. At 21K miles they both still look good. Mostly around town and strait hiway riding. I'll put another D404 rear on the front next spring, but the Falken should last me another two years...

I think, though; that the Dynabeads or Ride-on for balancing would have corrected the cupping and wobble with the front E3.

The only odd wear I can see in the photo is that you turn left more than right!

Keep the shiny side up!

Last time I bought tires from Jake Wilson I found a discount code JW009 that could be plugged in at checkout.  It was worth $30.  This was two years ago...don't know if its still good.
