It's one of the most popular darkside tires being currently used.

I have about 10K on mine and while I think it works well and I've been on some nice rides in North Carolina and Tennessee with it, all I can truly say it's better than the Goodyear TT I replaced with it. The other characteristics of a darkside tire - long life, great rear braking, smooth highway riding, better in the rain - is true of both of the car tires I've had.
From what I'm hearing, the 205-65-16 Falken ZE512 is the cat's meow now. But I would have no issue putting an Altimax back on the I/S after this one wears out.
I have the V-Rated tire. I can't comment on the H-rated tire.

I have the 205/55/16 General Altimax on mine. It is the second one. I got 30,000 miles on the first one, tread still looked good, but the wear indicator said "replace tire", and I had the back end off anyway, so I got another tire and replaced it. I paid $99 (I think) for mine from Tire Rack.

I run the Altimax. It seems that it likes higher pressure than what others run in their car tires. I run about 42psi in mine. I only got about 14,000 out of it before I got to the wear bars in the middle...no doubt due to running the higher pressure. But considering that I only got about 7500 miles out of an Avon Cobra for twice the cost, I'll take it.

When I tried running that low, my bike would "swim" when leaned over in longer curves on the highway. Not so much on back roads, but out on the interstates where you have higher speeds and long sweeping turns, it was unsettling. It seemed the sidewalls were flexing too much and would develop a slow wiggle. Aired it up to 40psi plus, and that characteristic went away.

It seems to me when I get over 32 or so, mine has much more tendency to follow ruts and grooves. MP

MP When leaned over in a turn on the interstate...keep in mind, I'm in southwest PA so even the interstates have curves that can be leaned over pretty decently for a long time...the bike will start to slowly weave. It actually feels like you are on springs with no damping effect. Nothing too scary, I would just let it do its thing and slow down a bit, but it was a little unsettling. It started right after I put the first car tire on for a trip to the CBR in 2009. I almost gave up on the whole car tire idea, but stuck with it playing with air pressures from about 25psi up to 45psi. Up around 42psi, it is good.
