I'm wanting to install a chrome front fender extension and was wanting to know if the fender will lift up and clear the forks without taking the wheel off first? If I have to bite the bullet and put it on the jack, it won't be the first time but was looking for a short cut. Doing a tech search didn't get me anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks..

Let the air out of the tire. Put block of wood to keep from drilling into tire.   Fuzzy

You don't have to take off your calipers.  You don't have to take anything off except to unbolt the fender and the speedo cable from the fender.

That said, it WILL NOT just slide right out....it's close, but not quite....however, it will come out simply by holding boths sides of the fender and squeezing the fender enough to clear the forks.

After you install your fender extension, squeeze it together again to go back in between the fork tubes.

You can also help to protect the fender by slathering a bunch of blue painters tape all over the sides of it prior to removing it past the fork tubes.

The above method worked great for me.

I didn't see any reason to take 'em off myself.

No problem here either, just have to squeeze in the fender just a little to clear the forks.  cooldude

Thanks all, I've been in that spot before where I was hesitant to persuade it by squeezing it after lifting.
It worked like a charm. Chrome extension is on..  Smiley

Yep same on a Rune...but on the Rune you have to remove the fender to get the wheel off...
